He did a little bit of it for Arizona. Should be interesting.
Antrel Rolle knows how to make plays with the ball in his hands. In 2007 with the Cardinals he had three interception returns for touchdowns and an NFL-high 231 interception return yards, and he occasionally played offense in Arizona, with one catch for nine yards in 2008 and one carry for nine yards in 2009.
Now that he's a Giant, Rolle is hoping he plays offense more than just occasionally. He even says he has a good throwing arm and hopes he'll get some opportunities as a wildcat quarterback.
"Once I'm here, I think they will get a pretty good feel of what kind of athlete I am," Rolle said. "Whether they're going to use me with that, I don't know yet. I hope so. I think it brings another dimension to football. It's something that also can excite the fans."
Giants coach Tom Coughlin is open to the idea.
"He's a very talented guy who was a high school quarterback and running back," Coughlin said.
Maybe he'll soon be an NFL quarterback and running back. At least for a few plays a game.
