Well i was suprised that there was no thread about this.

Man this is crazy i cant belive he lived? 200+ pounds straight onto the neck i cant belive the pain that would be.

He may be a USC player but i really hope he gets better that is unbelievable that he survived. The doctors said if it was anyone smaller they would of died.

Hell, a little thump to the throat usually puts most people down. Can't imagine how painfull what happened to him was. He's a senior isn't he?

Yup, and he'll probably never play again for USC. I'm not a USC fan, but I loved watching him play.

Yes, he had a spotter. It slipped out of his hand and onto his throat. It's crazy it hit there as opposed to his chest.

Yea one of the trainers was a spotter but it just slipped out of his hands an fell to his neck.

One of the kids on our team dropped a bar (45lbs) and (2) 45 lb plates = 135 lbs while doing bench press. Hit him square on the chin. Didn't break anything, and he really wasn't hurt that bad. I guess his spotter grabbed it just as it hit him or right before it hit him and the bar just scuffed his chin. Lots of blood, but it wasn't too bad. I always get the bigger linemen to spot for me. I don't trust those skinny wide receivers

Yeah, I wasn't sure what he could be doing for it to land on his throat. I suppose it happened when he was trying to put the bar back on the rack or whatever it's called. I hope that I never have to see anything like this happen in person. ugh...It's terrible sounding.

the normal motion taught for the bench press is down to the nipples and up over your eyeballs. which puts the bar right over your throat at some point. i hope the guy recovers quickly. i have seen and had similar things happen in the weight room that most laugh off and say damn that was close.
