To pass Piazza's HR's as a catcher? Will IRod play long enough? Just thought I'd ask in case some day I decide to start another player collection.

Wieters is the only current pro I can see doing it, unless maybe McCann can stay incredibly healthy and play a long time. After that, you do have to look forward to Bryce Harper. Wieters and Harper, especially Harper, have more versatility than other catchers, so they both could be moved off of the position down the road to keep them fresher, Harper may be moved after he's drafted.

If Mauer does what he's doing this year HR wise he could do it.

I don't think Maur will do it. He has never hit this many HRs before and there is talk that if he signs with another team and not the Twins they will make him a first baseman.

If a catcher comes along with the hitting skills that Piazza has I think he will get moved to first base. I think that's where baseball is going.

No.

Have to second that. Mauer is having a great start to his season, but I doubt he can keep up this pace for the rest of the season let alone his entire career. I will be watching to see if he can push .400 this year. I expect him to win another batting title with all these multi hit games he's putting together

In the 140 year history of baseball, Piazza hit more homers than any other catcher.
There's a good chance no one for another 50+ years could break the record.
And to even speculate that 16-year-old Bryce Harbor could, is preposterous.

Worst Nickname EVER!

b-rad wasn't so hot either.

Who is that? That is another real bad nickname regardless of who it is.

I call Justin Morneau J-Mo, and Joe Mauer Joe-Ma. Better than the nicknames they throw around in the clubhouse: Mourney..I mean cmon, what the **** is that?
