Already another crap start for Brad Penny. With his one year deal he could make a ton in FA next year if he just had a decent year.
3-1 but with an ERA of about 7! Yikes, he definitely should have stayed in the national league....

I don't really mind him as a 5th starter.....hell, we do score a lot of runs when he is pitching.

I hope he does not resign though because I want Bowden/Buchholz to be the 5th starter next year.

It won't take the full season until we see Bowden/Buchholz replace Penny. Smoltz will certainly take his place if he shows any promise

Teams should have known that Penny gets hurt almost every year. So glad the Dodgers dumped that albatross.

Well, I'll be... Penny actually pitched pretty decently. I think we've seen the last of David Ortiz in the 3 hole. 0 for 7, 3 K, 12 LOB. Yes folks, 12. :o

5 of is 7 starts have been quality starts, I would take this from my 5th starter in a heartbeat, and his ERA is inflated from the one game when he allowed 8ER,

The wrist injury seems to have sucked the life and confidence out of him. Though it could be something else, but i don't feel like going there right now

Or look at the careers of so many big men his size at his "age" (He may be older than he says), they usually fall off the cliff around this time.

Thats true. None of the possible reasons bode well though.

Front page of Yahoo was at draft time how this was the year he would plummet potentially. It sucks to watch, but still doesn't dampen his accomplishments in the past.

Agree completely. But there becomes a point when you have to change something up.
