Just curious to see what your success rate was/is?
I am having a hard time finding singles from this set.

I feel like I'm his FCB liaison every time I mention his name, but check out I Am Joe Collector's blog. He has done incredible work on the 07 and 08 Masterpieces sets, as well as the 08 Masterpieces football set.

You'll always have a hard time finding certain singles from this set because they do not exist. There are several cards which only exist as Silver Spotlight parallels, albeit with the /699 numbering of the base cards. I did a little investiaging a few months back when I noticed some weird things on these cards:

There's a variation on 2005 Leaf Limited, where some of the Silver Spotlight parallels (supposed to be #'ed /50) instead were #'ed /699 (like the base cards). There's three possible variants of each card (base /699, SS /50, SS /699), but it seems some variants do not exist. A base Trot Nixon /699 seems to be non-existant; only SS /699 and SS /50 seem to exist. On the other hand, a Troy Glaus SS /50 also seems to be non-existant; all copies I can verify of the SS are /699. So far, the only player I can verify having all three variants is Shannon Stewart, so some cataloged base cards and SSs may not actually exist.

It looks like a true base Mike Piazza doesn't exist either; all of those seem to be SS /699.

I was trying all 3 classes of 2000 topps gold label gold parallels #ed /100. I had about 20 class 1 and 20 class 3. I only needed about 10 class 2 to finish that off. But had to sell them for home repairs. Still kick myself for having to do that. But priorities are home and family first.

I am working on Bowman Chrome gold and blue refractor sets from 2009 forward for my son who was born in 2009. I am probably closest to finishing the 2011 gold refractor set (within 30 cards, I think). With a 2nd son that was born just three months ago, I'll be trying to complete two sets of each starting this year. Going to be a challenge.

I've been working on the 2004 Fleer Greats Blue Parallel set for a couple of years. I am currently at 103/145, the first 80 are number to /500 the remaining 65 are all numbered under /100 with the rarest one being 1/1.
I need 4 more of the ones numbered to /500, all are on Ebay but I haven't felt like spending more than they are worth just with shipping so I have been waiting for them to show up on COMC. The others don't show up very often and I grab them when I see them. Usually they go for under $10.

They don't come up very often because people don't tend to list parallel cards numbered to something like /45 or /77 because they think that they are not going to get much for it which in many instances is true. I always manage to find some during Ebays free listing specials.

I have an Al Rosen Blue, it's numbered /50-something. Need it?

I can chime in.
2009 topps chrome blue refractors /199 ...... Completed 2 weeks ago, last card I needed took over 6 months to surface
2011 topps chrome blue refractors /99 ....... Little over half way with the base set, autograph set complete. The lower print run is making it more expensive, and a lot harder to make progress on. I have not added 1 new card to the set in 3 months
2012 topps chrome blue refractors /199 .... 7 autos down, 60% base set completion. Got lucky and bought 2 very large lots on release

I did one of the 2001 Donruss numbered rookie subject sub-sets (each rookie in the sub-set was numbered /2001). I think it took me about 2 years and I had to get an extra of some cards because a small lot I purchased on ebay was shipped in a plastic case that shattered in shipment and the plastic shards cut and tore the cards from that lot, so some rookies have less than 2001 copies out there. ;)

I definitely give props to you guys for going after the sets numbered a few hundred or less - #/2001 was enough copies to make it able to be accomplished in a year or two.

Triple threads 2008. That's about it. I don't have the time, money, or motivation to go after much else. I wouldn't mind but I've just got too many other irons in the fire....

I can verify this - picked up a Piazza "Silver Spotlight" at the National that is numbered 683/699. NO true base card exists for him, just the 2 "Silver" (#d /699 and #d /50)

I'm working on 1998 Bowman chrome and parallels. I have the base, international, refractor and international refractor sets completed. The Golden anniversary is /50 and I am at 342/441- that is going to be a lifer of a project.

I wonder about when would be the best time to start working on a collection- you might be behind th e8 ball working on a 2005 set 7 years after the fact. I imagine those were all over ebay upon release...and you could probably pick up bulk lots too...but the tradeoff is that they are usually more expensive. Back in 98, a Ryan Anderson or Matt Anderson parallel from 98 chrome probably was worth some serious cash, and now they are pretty much commons.

My reputation precedes me. I have made some good progress but the masterpieces sets aren't too bad. They are between 86 and 120 cards, so manageable. It goes without saying but comc is going to be your best friend to save shipping. Maybe sportlots as well. Anyway good luck.

Here is my wantlist.

Light Blue /50 need 3
2 - Adrian Peterson
79 - Scott Norwood
83 - Tom Brady

Green Metallic /50 need 3
10 - Brett Favre
78 - Jack Lambert

I am having a hard time finding singles from this set.

I did it with 2006 Bowman White /120 (took about 2 years to complete) and I'm still working on 2007 Finest black /99 (only about 30 cards left to get). It takes time and patience. I started the Finest Black in 2007 and I'm still trying to find certain cards.
Here is the Bowman white set: (sorry for some bad scans).

I lied. After checking, I'm also going for the 2010 and 2011 opening day blue parallel sets numbered to the respective years. It was just a throw in for me. Should be a cheap endeavor but hey, I'm not into seriously big time sets. I just normally go after base sets.
