I received my base set and /50 set today. These really look great! They did come packed w/o sleeves and the /50 do have slight surface scratches so not going to try grading. Unlike the Leaf metal or valiant releases, these cards actually do have a short writeup on each player. I'm hoping Leaf is able to do that for future draft releases.

What are the cards in? No sleeves? Are you kidding? I spend $200 on sets, I sure hope they are in sleeves, or they will be going back to leaf.

No sleeves but the scratches are clearly from the production not the fact they aren't in sleeves

got mine yesterday and they are all scratched up good. very disappointed. you don't even need to move them under the light to see, it is very obvious.

Send them back, no excuse for them to be sent to you that way, especially straight from the manufacturer. When I pull cards like that from Topps and Panini, they take care of it. BG should do the same here.

I am going to be really disapointed if my cards are all scratched to hell. All they did was produce them, throw them into sleeves (or should have) and shipped em. Most people's expectations are that these cards would be in pretty damn good shape upon arrival. Well, we shall see....No reason to get upset until I see mine I suppose

Hard to imagine that yours wouldn't be if everyone else's are.

I am willing to bet they are not "beat up"..

You cannot believe how many people send in customer service for scratches/etc then the cards are 9 or better (usually 9.5)...

As a collector, I appreciate getting all gem mints, but as a manufacturer we cannot guarantee better than nrmt-mt .. I don't think any manufacturer does... Maybe this is one of the few "condition sensitive" valiant sets.... BG

Can someone scan their set with the scratches, so we all can see and so can BG to see how bad it is.

A scan is unlikely to show the scratches although a photo from an angle might. To be honest I don't think it's as bad as folks are making this out to be. My base set looks great, surface is fine. The /50 set does have some scratches but these are not major, totally obvious gashes. The scratching is of the sort you'd probably get from the cards sitting in a stack and/or from typical human handling. Given that these are small print run, speciality sets I'm guessing they had more human handling than might be otherwise. As others noted it would have been ideal if they were sleeved but I can't complain all that much compared to how bad condition often is with Bowman releases (see 2012 Bowman Sterling for example).

The prices weren't that high and as most who have bought in here on this site have noted, it's highly likely that you'll get your investment back and then some.

Most of the time, the alleged "scratches" are UNDER the coating and BGS does NOT count against grade..BG

The packaging was secure as noted, just no sleeves. I had two sets packaged in a plastic container with foam on the bottom and some cardboard filler between sets and on top. I'd say that the packaging was good enough to keep the cards in the same condition they were packed in. So in my opinion any scratching was not due to the packaging but would be manufacturing or handling before packaging. Again for my sets I don't see a major issue, others can only speak for their own sets.
