Sad. It seems like the vast majority of the people here are only concerned with buying these sets to flip them and make a quick profit. I've only seen a few comments in the last 20 pages of posts that actually seem interested in buying these sets because they think it looks cool. And here I thought this was a sports card hobbyist forum.

I'm hoping to sell the football and basketball guys to pay for the baseball guys (and maybe some extra $) for my sets so we're not all doing purely for profit.

Yeah, I was the underbidder at $218. Thought I would easily get it for way less. Bummer. Wanted the rainbow but looks like that wont happen.

I'll have a Soler /25 and /50 avail. tomorrow.

I wanted to pick up the Puig 1/1 , but that went for $221! :o Thought that would be the cheapest out of all the baseball players, but boy was I wrong! I ended up getting the Soler 1/1 for $74, which seems like a steal. Why would Puig go for 3x as much? The LA factor?

Also, since I picked up the Soler 1/1, I'm going to try to pick up the entire rainbow. I have the 1/1 and the base already, if anyone is willing to sell the others let me know!

Please explain your reasoning behind selling the 310 things you sold on ebay.

But seriously, I used to feel the same way. It was upsetting when I wanted player x and prospectors drove the price up or all I would see is flip for profit conversations. Well, not all collectors are that way. But I learned it's "normal" to sell for profit. As mentioned, it helps afford cards you want. This can be an expensive hobby. I dumped $100 in these sets. Plan on selling all but 1 player and using the profit to buy more cards. It helps me afford a hobby without having to resort to a life of crime. ;) Happy Hunting.

Many people buy and sell to pay for their PC. Is that a problem? If buying a leaf card and flipping it, gives them an extra $50 to buy something they really want, where is the harm?

Some people like cards/money and some like to sit on a very tall horse. To each their own.

No harm, really. Its just that's all I see happening anymore. It makes me wonder...If so many collectors weren't buying random stuff low and then selling high, perhaps other collectors who really want it could get that random stuff for their PC at a reasonable price to begin with. Then they wouldn't need that extra $50 for their PC because prices wouldn't be so inflated.

Anyway, I'm not trying to start a war or anything. Everyone has a right to try to make extra money. It just hurts my heart a little every time I see business talk dominate a beloved hobby of mine that used to be dominated by innocent baseball card talk like "I'll trade you all my cubs for all your white sox!"

I'm sadly/reluctantly selling 90% of my collection so I can get my girl the engagement ring she deserves. Just sold all my 80's and some 70's rookies last week...all my Sandbergs, Gwynns, Ripkens, Mattinglys, Hendersons, Boggs, Clemens, etc. Believe me...I lose money on most of the cards I sell since modern era cards rarely appreciate unless you sell at the right time (the only card that made me a profit was my George Brett RC!!!), but its OK because I never collected for the profit. I'm just lucky I picked up a hobby that leaves me with something tangible that I can sell for at least SOME of my money back. Most of my friends took up barhopping and they literally pissed away their "hobby" money.

Bought 2 oranges sets. Sold a Lillard for the price of one set. Looks like a good mini-investment.

Kudos to Leaf for selling these sets at a price point that works for the company and allows the buyer to either have a nice set of cards or get a solid ROI.

Anyone else noticing any peeling on the front of the cards? Most noticeable on the left hand side. A very thin line, almost reminds me of the old Finest cards with the peel off front layer that protected the cards.
