Is this a show put on by John Cole....if it is I can pretty much tell you about all the dealers and probably about every card they have...

Yes it is, I haven't been to a show in a couple of years, even a small one. Any chance there will be Jeter auto's?

I've been to Schaumburg and Rolling meadows more than once. If it like those, it is
likely very small, and the same old guys with the same old cards. Thoughts, TK ??

John has the best stuff out of the group, and for the most part, his turnover on newer stuff is pretty good....he would be the one that you would find a Jeter AUTO with...he had 2 or 3 at the last show I saw him at in Peoria....but he is usually pretty high on stuff like that----mainly because he has contacts all over the midwest that pay him whatever he wants for stuff.

Wax will be decently priced--not blow out, but there is a guy that sets up usually at Johns shows that sells mostly 90's stuff (Boxes and singles), newer hockey, and webkinz, yu-gi-oh etc...

You might want to PM mamunrud and see if him and Dave are setting up...besides John they are the 2 with the nicer stuff and usually much more reasonable.

Other than that, I am not sure if there are any local guys that set up there or not, I think I have been to the st. charles show once.

Out of his regular guys, if you dig you can find some hidden gems every now and then.

All in all, small show, but if you live close by, can be worth the trip.

Oh yeah, and take stuff with you......I usually do between $500-$1000 per show walking around.....they love to buy/trade there......just depends on who goes.

Also, there are a couple of guys from Detroit area that have some great pieces and some just NASTY vintage stuff......both great guys and pretty easy to deal with...can be high on stuff, but it is stuff that anyone would be high on.

You think its worth the 30 min. drive for me for a possible Dawson or Williams find?
I don't usually find much, even at local shows.

Like what kind of stuff though. I have a bunch of low-end and base/inserts/chromes I'd like to move.

Hmmm...I know John usually has some Dawson and Williams stuff--usually at least a couple AUTOs of each, and he should be rather reasonable on them. I also know the guy that has just stacks of cards every where had a couple Dawson AUTOs......it is about a 15-35 min drive for me everytime the come to Peoria and/or Bloomington and I always do pretty decent......

Mostly though I sell there, and maybe pick up 3 to 4 cards......unless I can find some goodies/steals when I dig...

Last show I picked up a Sidney Crosby Upper Deck Parallel #d/10 for $30 and some toughie 90 inserts for under $1 each that I sold on ebay for $10+ per.

Info I found says 50 tables. If true, this should be better than the Fred C. shows.

Its misleading, lol.......John has 6-7 tables by himself and 2 other guys have 4-6 as well....

In fact of Johns 6-7 tables, only about 3-4 have cards on them that are what you would want to look at.....he also has at least 1-2 tables of dollar and junk cards all spread out and 2-3 tables of magazine ads from the 30-60s that he sells....

 Overall, do you think better or about the same as the Schaumburg shows.

If you go, do yourself a favor and stop by "El Puente" for lunch on Main St. in downtown St. Charles. Easily one of my favorite Mexican places of all time. The thin salsa they have is amazing.

----------

I've stopped going over to the St. Charles show for the past two years cause the mall traffic has really dropped off. The last I heard there was still lots of empty store-fronts and that has really hurt business. It's a super nice mall with no traffic so at times it feels like a ghost town in there. Add to that the Sun Times show coming up the following weekend and you'll probably find not many people looking to spend money at the show, instead saving up for the bigger show the next weekend. Now that could be good for you if you're looking to spend and get some good deals as the dealers that do set up will welcome any chance at a sale.
