Hey all,

I am looking to finally get my collection organized and I figured using a spread sheet would be the best way to do this. I know there are some great player collections on here and someone has to use Excel to organize them. Would anyone mind linking an example just so i can get an idea to structure mine?

Thank you,

Frank

I can send you mine or a template if you'd like; shoot me a PM with your email if you'd like to see it in PDF and if you like it, I can send in excel. I love using excel for mine and I'm probably a little over the top lol. The best part about it is you can have it count how many you have/need and show % and statistics around how many per year, or serial numbered, etc. Excel can do amazing things...

I have a Heritage checklist on my freewebs page. On my own personal checklist, I have added tabs for other PC projects and tradebait I pick up. It adds the cost of everything on the final sheet and yikes.

Yep - mine is a combo of the 2 posts prior. Downloaded all of the Beckett listings for Rickie Weeks (then spent hours changing them around to the order I like), and then added columns for tracking what I have and so forth. Then have a neat little summary like this at the bottom:

[TABLE="width: 271"]

Obviously the BV is kind of useless since it doesn't count for cards #d/25 and under. I was toying around with adding a "$ paid" column to track how much I've spent on them, but I'm afraid my wife would see it...

I also use Excel, but I must be doing it wrong. How do I get it to count my haves/needs and do percentages?

I've been meaning to combine my exel spreadsheets into just one sheet with multiple tabs. I, too, considered including what I have paid for the cards, but I figured: (1) i am solely a collector and I do not buy to flip; and (2) the total dollar amount would probably freak me out a little bit. ;)

For my spreadsheet, I have a column titled "Different" to just keep up with the total number of cards I know about that Pomeranz has available. I then have a column that I call "Percent" that looks at my "Quantity" column and if the number is more than 0, it puts a "1" in the "Percent" column. Otherwise, it puts a "0" in the column. I then sum the two columns at the bottom and divide the "Percent" column into the "Different" column.

Here is an easy way to do this and it actually looks cool without using numbers and various other shortcuts...

Have two columns, for sake of example, A and B. In Column B write the name of the card and in column A put a "X" if you have the card and leave blank if you don't. i.e. like a checklist. Then at the very bottom, you can use the formula "=counta" for column A to count the cards you have. You can use the same formula on column B to show you how many cards there are of your player, etc. If you divide both together, you get the %.

I know a lot of other tricks, like counting serial numbered cards, cards of a particular year, etc. and showing % for these.

google docs would be the best or google drive I think they're trying to call it now. You can keep it all there and make it linkable for others. You can also make categories which people that view your collection can use to search and sort by whatever they want without allowing them to edit anything.

For example
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...cjhSZlRTRVlWVE9mck5nQy0yVl9oV2c&rm=full#gid=0

I used to have that linked in my sig, but I've since liquidated most of it. You can make the link sexier like some of the other links in my sig.

I have a pretty decent one but I don't know if it would be any help unless you understand excel and how to modify equations.

I'll send you mine if you want to email me. Mine incorporates pictures and has tabs for trades and flips that I've made and notes on how I acquired some cards. It's always fun/heartbreaking to look at some of the brilliant/idiotic trades I made 2 years ago. It probably wouldn't be feasible if you have a really big collection, though. PM me your email if you want it.

I thought about adding notes to mine which showed like date aquired, how I acquired, at what price if for $, etc. BUT this would just be terrible for me to reference and start adding up total $ amount spent LOL!!

This thread made me go total up my PC.

I found out that 41.26% of the cards of the 17 Players I collect are 1/1s (229/555). I own 14.41% of the 1/1s (33/229)

That's crazy!

Call me a :geek: but I look at % of all outstanding cards, % 1/1s, % of serial numbered cards, % by year, etc.
