There are plenty of people that buy into the scarcity factor of low print runs, obscure rare cards and limited high grade copies in existence. I enjoy serial numbered cards to a certain extent for example, but at some point the reasonability turns to insanity with some people and the prices people are asking for some things these days is a joke. However prices that seem outrageous (but more inline with reality) do occur a lot, especially with graded cards and I am going to say vintage especially, since I don't play around in that area. Paying $100s or even $1000s for high grade vintage commons is a bit ridiculous to me, but not to others.
