My dad works for a high end pool company and Joe Nathan lives in Knoxville during the off-season. They did some work on his pool and my dad went out to meet him and what not. Got me a couple of signed cards. Pretty neat.

My dad also does pool work for Derek Dooley, head football coach at UT.

My aunt taught Todd Helton in HS.

Have small collections of both Doug Fister and Brian Fuentes, both from my hometown of Merced and family friends. At one point I had 15 of Doug's gold refractors, but sold most of his high end when he started last season well. Couldn't turn away that big of a profit.

My brother went to HS with Todd Van Poppel, my brother said he was a ******.

I currently live two streets over from "Ducky" Detwiler. Ducky played for the Boston Braves in 1942. Have been looking for a photo to get him to sign but it seems nothing is out there.

I went to a 51's game the season before last. I took a OMLB to get signed by JP Arencibia. Wouldn't you know it after I got him to autograph it they announced that Bryce Harper was going to throw out the first pitch. Crap! Well anyways I did get him to autograph it but unfortunatly it wasn't on the sweet spot. This was after his SI cover so I recognized him after they announced him. He was mobbed after throwing out the first pitch.

I have a planter in ths shape of a Browns jersey #11 signed by former NFL punter Brian Hansen. He went to college in here in Sioux Falls, SD. My wife worked with his mother in law and had a bunch of stuff signed for me. It has to be one of the strangest items I have.

Contact the Hall of Fame as they have an extensive library of photos for most players. You can also try ordering from the premier photographer of sports figures in Chicago, George Brace. He would take photos of everyone when the came to Wrigley or Comiskey for many years. His family now runs the business and his website is http://www.bracephoto.com/index.html

Tyner? He used to be with the Twinkies.

I think he left?

Yes, he did used to play with the Twins... Tyner usually spends the first half on the season in the minors, gets sent up to the majors when someone gets hurt, and than drops back down to the minors for the start of the next year.

He is pretty much done now, though. Last I checked he was in the Indians organization.

I collect local natives, and am looking to pick things up of some other locals that I haven't been able to yet. My town has around 5,000 people I think, and the "city" has 20,000, so it's a pretty small area, although it's produced some great talents. We've also had a few semi-pro teams, the Johnstown Johnnies (Frontier League baseball) and the Johstown Chiefs and Jets (ECHL Hockey). I also collect alumni of those teams.

I invite you to check out my "Hometown Heritage" collection on my website. I've got a list of all the guys from the area, and have galleries of the cards I've been able to pick up so far. It's everywhere from pro athletes to the co-creator of Spiderman. http://www.cardmagnet.info/pc-hometown/-%20main.htm

Here's some of my favorite cards from my local pc. I actually got contacted by Vuckovich via email, which led to me getting this card from him, and even signed by him.

My wife was born in Merced, her father was stationed at whatever Air Force base that used to there. Many years ago we met Brian Fuentes in AA when he came to Bowie (MD), he got a kick out of meeting someone born in Merced all the way out in Maryland.

I have an autographed ball of Ben Carlson minor leaguer for the Tigers. Along with my signature on there since we played on the same team. If he ever goes pro, there goes the price of that ball haha.

When my Grandmother was a teenager she used to baby sit for Chuck Tanner's kids and also the children of some his Atlanta Cracker teammates. She gave me a signed program as well as two signed vintage baseballs(made by spalding at the time) of the entire team. Sadly like an idiot...I sold/traded all of it away years ago thinking I'd never feel the need to keep them nor would they ever be worth anything. Luckily a month ago I ran into the guy who I actually traded the program to and we already have a deal worked out where...as soon as he digs it out(he still has it and still remembered me), I'll buy it back from him. Pretty damn cool.

As for the balls I sold...it was at the Live Oak Convention Center at a comic show they had there back around 2006 or so. I sold them both for $15 to a guy. I am still willing to pay some very good money should I ever be able to find out who has them and if they are willing to part with them. I know their value isn't sky high but now that I am into collecting what I do...they would mean a hell of a lot if I could get them back. Sadly at the time I was trying to pay off some of my credit cards and I sold off a lot of nice stuff for next to nothing.

So if any of you San Antonio guys know anyone who might have them...hit me up.

Robb Quinlan (Former Angel, just signed with Phillies) played in the same Babe Ruth league as me, I'm older though & didn't play with him, but my dad coached him. I have a ton of his RC's & 8 "different" Diamond Kings 1/1's variations.

For TB....when I was collecting Twins RC's really hard I was really looking forward to picking up Glen Perkins stuff since I had followed him in HS & at UofM since he was local. Searching ebay a few days before Topps Chrome was due to release I saw an auction for a Perkins TC Auto RC, I emailed the seller to ask how they had the card since the product wasn't out yet & it turned out it was Glen's girlfriend who listed the card. He had been allowed to keep a couple & they listed it as a joke to see how much it would go for, but she told me not to bid because they set a crazy reserve & weren't going to sell it, it was just for fun. I replied to tell Glen how I had been following him since HS & at U & wished him best of luck in the Minors & hoped to see him with Twins soon.

Next day I get an email from Glen himself, saying thanks for the kind words & if I wanted the card to give him my address & he would send it to me! Of couse I sent him my address!! Couple days later I got the card in the mail, which he personalized w/"To Dan, Best Wishes"....I'm at work now & don't have a scan here, but I'll post when I get home tonight. We exchanged a few more emails about cards & baseball.

I get the whole "Perk the Jerk" stuff because of the stories I've heard, but he was pretty cool with me....
