Sheesh. I can't say I'm in favor of these kinds of cards. And Ebay is just flooded with them right now. Yuck!

It is far from the Babe Handwriting. You just have a relic from that time period and many of them seem to be newspaper, letter, etc. A cool concept but as you say if it was Ruth writing at all the whole piece would more than likely not be cut up . Enjoy the stuff for what it is which many think is junk but one man junk is another man treasure. If your a pc guy it a perfect way to round out your collection but please never think that it is anything from Ruth.

"Time period relics that were attributed to the subject". Nice and vague, like many of the relic cards that came before the newest issues. As I read this, it could be a sports page from when he played but not even necessarily be about him, a letter written about him, a sports related book or any other 1910s-30s tangent item cut up and stuck into a card.

I am not a fan, but have some items that are not far off of this. I added them for what they were and never paid much. Sadly, I expect you won't likely often find bargain Ruth cards like this but I would not feel comfortable paying more that a similarly scarce insert or parallel Ruth /99. The relic in this is essentially worthless as it's presented, so you have to really want to add something like this to a collection and then it makes sense because it makes you happy to add it.
