It's funny - the asymmetry between football and baseball franchises.

Many people preferred 2K in football - yet EA gets the license.

Many people preferred EA in baseball (MVP Baseball) - yet 2K gets the license.

Judging by the current crop of EA games.....I wouldn't count on them making a quality baseball sim.
Madden was horrible (as a realistic football game....if you're into the bells and whistles I guess it's okay).
NBA Elite was so bad they had to cancel it.

Guess somebody else can come through with a great game.....honestly, doesn't really matter to me, because The Show is the best baseball game I've ever played. I'd still be playing the franchise I started in The Show 09' if my damn PS3 didn't die causing me to lose the save file.

The franchise mode is great, the graphics are nice, and the gameplay is phenomenal.

To anyone that has played both MVP 2005 and 10 The Show:

How are the physics and hitting mechanics in The Show? The last time i played The Show (like '08, for PS2), the physics and push/pull hitting mechanics were crap. (HR felt no different than a groundball). I'm an MVP 2005 die-hard fan.....is The Show really as good? I care nothing about presentation or graphics.......for me, it's all about feel. I think i'll just have to rent it or something......if i get a PS3 this Christmas.

I absolutely loved MVP Baseball 2005. I played it up until my PS2 died in early 2009.

I have a PS3 and The Show 10 now and it makes me totally forget about MVP. Everything is well balanced, RTTS is fantastic, and of course the graphics are out of this world.

the shows batting stances are pretty bad, plus all the fielders throw the same...isnt as good as everyone else makes it out to be....one thing 2k is good at is making the way the players throw an hit/swings real well and the pitchers windeups are good the gameplay is bad though......

i enjoyed mvp 05 gameplay the best out all of em.

They did.

And yes, MVP2005 is amazing. I still play it, with all of my edited players (Every Hall of Fame player, some other stars like Joe Jackson, Pete Rose, Jose Canseco, Bo Jackson, Thurman Munson, and a ton of edited rookies).

See guess for me it's less about "feel" and more about statistical realism that makes it fun.
Unlike most new sports game I was able to put the game in and get realistic results without playing with sliders for weeks.....and I had that experience throughout playing for a couple years straight.
Other than batting avg. (tended to be a bit high across the board for my team) stats and scores were realistic.
Players had slumps and streaks that felt natural....and maybe the coolest thing was performance seemed to vary from year-to year. The game didn't feel the same from game to game or year to year. It didn't feel reliant on an overall player grade or potential grade like in other titles. It made it seem fresh and kept me hooked.

Also - never saw that Elite mock-up.....Hilarious. :lol:
