Was just wondering how the insiders felt about Football as investments. I dabble a little, but not much.

Thoughts?

I did well on a couple Luck/RG3s - otherwise, I don't think I have a clue what I'm doing. Picked up some Johnathan Franklin autos, couple Brock Osweilier just to test the waters. I honestly don't feel like I will do well on them though.

offered 125 for this - instantly accepted. there were 9 offers before, I believe. Thought the card is bad ass but I'm guessing I overpaid by $50.

I hear that. I'm not sure I understand two things in the football market:

1) The Timing. It's a completely different scenario and you don't have years to get price spikes as in baseball.
2) The Brands. The brands are confusing to me especially since more than one manufacturer has an official license.

I know National Treasures is kind of the king of the higher-end auto market, but after that, I get confused. Topps Chrome seems to be my card of choice after that for a given player as well as Contenders. But then you have a BUNCH of brands out there for which I have no clue on how to invest (Elite, Inception, Finest, etc.)

Thoughts?

You echo my thoughts as well. I collected fb rcs 10 years back and most have become worthless. Very brutal sport.

I also figure buying now is a bad idea because prices are high at the beginning of a season. I'm guessing patch autos are safer than insert autos and w/ so many jsys getting cut up, they may have a category of their own behind NT/Exquisite/Contenders. I love the sport too much to not try out the investing and feel like I'm ready now. I got a lot of people looking to trade on ebay and never have anything worth my time.

Finally, the npb rate is higher to the best of my knowledge because of how fast spikes can come and go.
