I just found an old box of cards at my parent's house from back in the day and a bunch of the contents was clearly stuff that I acquired on the old AOL baseball cards message boards. Anyone else remember these? I used to sign up for card auctions via E-mail from there... those were the days!

I was baseball and basketball - bbalfan33, haha. I found them in 7th grade when I was home sick from school. Made my first deal with a guy whose screen name was "SLU123"... traded him a couple Andy Pettitte's for a couple Allen Iverson RC's. It was all down hill from there.

That was a fun site before they made some format changes.......many good deals there but also many failures in the early internet.

I don't remember what site I used to go to alot in the late 90s. I just remember getting refractors and just loving them. My buddies and I were going to go after the Sosa/McGwire HR sets. Had nothing else to spend my money on other than cards. Those were the days. :^)

How about... rec.collecting.discuss.cards ? Not sure how it was listed but that was the early days when newsgroups were the place to be. I think I visited the AOL groups but was a regular in the newsgroups.

I got ripped off on a 5000 count box of stars, semi's, commons...I sent it to someone in Dothan, Alabama and he asked me to ship at the same time....I didn't know any better because I was new at it and like 16 years old and I never received anything back and I tried to contact him with no luck....he just ignored me. I hope he choked on the cards.....frackin jatstain.

I miss the old AOL forum. I went by UDGameJersey. I collected 2000 UD Game Jersey and Game Jersey autos and 2000 UD 3000 Hit Club game used and autos.

I remember those days.

My first ever internet trade was with King Donut. I don't necessarily recall my screen name, but I am sure it was some form of PiazzaFan13 or something.

Never got screwed on those boards but I did learn a LOT about the hobby and trading/buying/selling from those boards.
