They have a card listed on Ebay that I would like to buy. Have asked for a scan 3 or 4 times with no luck. The price is not a problem, but I don't want a card that is not in good shape. All I need is for someone to look at it for me. The card is in its second 30 day cycle, seems like they would want to move it.

good luck getting a view even in person at the shop...

I am not a fan of Burbank, but are they really THAT bad??? You can't even get help at the shop to see the card you want to buy? I would think that behavior like that would have put them out of business long ago.

All they need to do is sell 2 cards on ebay and rent is paid

I've actually been there. It's pretty organized. They just let you on your own. That is, until it's time to checkout.

Wow, they won't even show you the card in their store?
Nope. When I asked the owner if I could see the cards before I bought them, first he laughed out loud, then he told me "We cannot do that, our inventory is too large, this would be impossible to do."

I paused and stared at him for a few seconds, then walked out...

I made a first time visit to their store recently.

If you are looking for specific cards, you have to shop through their Beckett Marketplace [there is a little table with two computers and a printer set up].

Once you are done with your shopping cart, you print out an 'invoice,' pay for your cards and then they have an employee pull the cards for you.

I bought one card from them, and unless their prices come back down to reality, I won't be buying anymore. Unless of course, the red Crusade pops up.

Not to stick up for them but they have millions upon millions of cards in their inventory. God only know the man hours that they use sorting and cataloging everything.........

That blows my mind. I hope you can return it right on the spot if it's damaged. I understand the enormous qty. of cards and how difficult it would be to manage cost-effectively, but putting handcuffs on your customers is probably driving away more business than what they're getting. I mean shoot, why not hire some high school kids and tell them, sit in the back of the store and for every 200 or 300 cards you scan into the database, you get $25 towards any purchase of cards in the store. I just don't get NOT doing anything to improve that business practice. I don't get it. Customers need to see what they are buying. Period.

As long as they were in nm condition I'd be okay not seeing the card. But you would figure they would have them where you could look through them at the store.I mean...what if you just pop in to see if anything new is there but nothing in particular? It would seem like they need to liquidate some of their inventory or get a few more locations so they are not only able to provide scans but also are able to show cards to in store customers when and if they want to see them. And if they want a card at another store location they can just call over there and have it deliver to them at the shop location of choice.

My chief complaint about Burbank for some time now. I was aware of their online practices, I just never, ever would have imagined they ran their store like that also. I'm surprised their doors are still open.

That would amount to 1 1987 Topps Cory Snyder at their prices...

Sorry, but they would have to be some pretty trust worthy kids. Most likely relatives of the owner. I could see plenty of cards going missing if you trusted a few high school kids to scan them for money towards cards. Just my take.

I don't like their business practice as much as anyone else. But with the number of cards they own, it is probably not worth their time to scan or show a card to every person who asks. I could just imagine how many people would be expecting gem mint copies and decline to buy it upon seeing it. Could you imagine how many times they would have to scan or show a card in a day given the number of cards they own?

With that said, all of the cards I have purchased from them have been in great condition. Three are actually off to BGS for grading.
