Anyone watching Dominican Republic vs. Netherlands??

This is almost bigger than the USA beating the Russians in the Winter Olympics.

I don't think I'd go that far. With the Miracle on Ice team the Soviets had won a warmup just a couple weeks earlier by something like 12 goals. More importantly though, it was in the midst of the Cold War and you can't underestimate the impact the game had on the psyches of the two nations' populations.

This is big, but doesn't have the same historical impact.

I'd have to guess there has been a bigger upset at some point in the World Cup. As I don't follow futbol, though, I can't name one.

Isn't that like saying "Mathematics aside is there a great example of why numbers are important"? It was a huge and unexpected win but I'd hardly call it the biggest upset in international sports history. How can one consider international sports without including the Olympics?

I was talking on an international level. I think as Americans we don't want to see anything bigger than the miracle on ice because that was such a big moment. What would you say if the Netherlands wins it all? I don't for see it happening but its possible.

Ok, staying international with the money example. By your thinking process any time the Expos ever beat anyone it was as big as the Netherlands winning.

It isn't a matter of bias. This is not as big as the Miracle on Ice. That is not to say the Miracle is the biggest international upset ever but it is certainly a bigger upset than what the Netherlands just did. That said, the Netherlands winning *two* times is a major international upset and will likely be in not only the Top 20 International Upsets but also in the Top 100 Upsets.

You stated that the pay scale difference is why it was so epic. I showed you other international examples of pay scale difference that would be considered far from epic. You said I didn't understand. So clarify.
