Apparently baseball helmets are way older than we thought

Someone on the Net54 sports card forum posted this video from the Antiques Road Show about a batting helmet from 1905

I don't know, the story I have in my head is that they started in the 1880s, naturally after a guy got beaned. And naturally, he was ridiculed for pussishness at first, but it caught on, given the uncontrollability of spitters and such.
