Yeah, ******* returning for the season has pretty much been ruled out although I have heard the announcers express hope that maybe he'll return at the very end of the season but it may just be wishful thinking.

Depending on the situation of the division and how the team is, we will see how that hurts us. I thought he could be back for the final 60 games or so. If we are out of it it won't matter and if we are in it and gelling it shouldn't really hurt. But if we are in it yet kinda a mess he could help.

Losing A.J. ******* was the biggest blow to our team since trading Inciarte, Swanson & Blair for Shelby Miller.

If we want to win tonight we need one of those offensive outbursts like we had in Game 1.

You have to assume Miller will give up 4+ runs through 5 IP or less.

An article I read about Miller earlier today mentioned that he barely ever throws his 2-seam fastball this year which is the pitch that made him so successful last year, nor does he throw many curveballs which is one of his more effective pitches (hitters are batting .222 against it). It's been mostly just his 4-seam, which has dropped by an average of 1.2 MPH since last year and then his changeup which has not been very effective. So he's relying on the wrong pitches.

Regardless, you had to expect his ERA to jump since going from a pitchers park to a hitters park...but not up to 6.94.

This far in the season a coach/catcher should have forced him to make the change.

Agreed.

His other issue is that he gets rattled so easily. He'll be doing just fine until he puts runners in scoring position or gives up a run and then all of a sudden he implodes and gives up a load of hits or walks and gets pulled early because he can't get fixed. Last year when I watched him pitch for the Braves (my other team) it wasn't so dramatic. His command would fall off when getting into jams but it could be corrected and he'd go further into the game. He didn't have to be yanked.

Miller has more walks than strikeouts this season. That is discouraging.

Ellsbury struck out twice in that at-bat, yet he ends up walking.

Miller is already in trouble.

And Miller just missed giving up another 2 run HR by inches and it nearly injured Drury in the process. Please find a way to get rid of the inept pitcher.

Maybe we could get Inciarte back for him...but I highly doubt it.
