I'm no longer worried about Greinke. He may not be the shutdown ace I expected out of him but he's still a very serviceable front line starter. If you check out his FIP, it's about 1.50 lower than his ERA which means he's been very unlucky with some bad defense behind him and giving up most of his runs at hitters ballparks so we should expect his ERA to trend downward throughout the season. His k rate is still on par with his career numbers and he's got a very good k/bb ratio (over 4 strikeouts per walk).

Greinke is about to go 8 this time without any trouble. I believe that is the furthest any of our starters have gone all season.

8 IP 1 ER 5 H 1 BB 7 SO 4.59 ERA

I'm assuming that he's done for the day but you never know.

D-BACKS WIN! We've won 4 of our last 6 games now.

Off day tomorrow and then it's off to Pittsburgh.

Now SMs time to turn the garbage around.

I may no longer be worried about Greinke but I feel hopeless about Shelby Miller. I believe he is a lost cause to be quite honest. His mechanics are all screwed up (keeps dragging his knuckles on the mound) and while he won't admit it there is obviously something going on in his head. In order to help him he needs a phantom DL stint and sent down to AAA for a couple weeks. Maybe he'll get his s**t together and in the mean time we can bring up Bradley or Shipley (preferably Bradley). If we just keep putting Miller out there we'll have an automatic loss every 5 games.

I figured it would be a matter of time until Greinke rounded into form, he's a guy who I think takes a while to adjust to his new surroundings. I doubt he'll ever replicate what he did last season but he's a pitcher who can go deep into ballgame's every time he's on the mound.

Shelby Miller might be a lost cause...I think it's more mental than physical with him. He's only hurting the team and should be sent to AAA to figure it out, but I think the GM is trying to save face because it would be a bad look sending the SP you gave up the farm for down to the minors. He's just gotta swallow his pride and make that move though.

And there it is...Miller gives up a 3 run HR and he still hasn't recorded an out yet.

They need to show him that he doesn't have a permanent spot in this rotation by sending him to the minors for awhile or he's going to continue to pitch like a struggling low A pitcher in the majors.
