UD Letterman Cards?

i dont see why a card /35 is going to run me $20+ and also there are what, 25 different ones to chase in the 2009 UD Icons alone?

The beauty of being a collector of any flavor is you can do it which ever way you want. I assume you already know this and the question at hand is in jest?

Eh, half and half i suppose. I am a self admitted anal-ist when it comes to collecting and really want to own one copy of each of Jay Bruce's MLB non-1/1 cards. And in general i have no qualms with the gazzilion different parallels that the
companies tend to pump out, but these fake letterman jerseys, eh.

I don't fall under this product with my guy, but my view is to spend big money on the items that are priority to me, grab the rest when I can get them for next to nothing, and to not worry about when I'm not able to get it all. There's always something else to spend my money on.

This is what I'm doing for this set. If I see them falling in my price range I'll grab them, but I'm not going to kill myself to spell out however many words UD is making this team.

Personally as a player collector, if I don't like a set then I will not pick up the cards. Instead, I make sure that I win every high-end card/every item that I really want. It is impossible to own every card of most players anyways.

I went ahead and bought/buying all my players letters. I just consider these inserts and being non 1/1's I feel I should have them. Luckily mine aren't costing $20 a piece. Avg price so far (7 of 10) @ $9.01

There is also a Gold Auto'd version /3 That I will just pick up 1, I don't have the coin to try to complete that set.

I saw casebusters had pulled a chavez gold auto/3.
They had it listed on their site for 75$
Just FYI.

I see your point...I see the Icons up there with Moments and Milestones and now all the sketch cards I am seeing.......

I still think Moments and Milestones has to be the worse......I would be happy with just one of each I guess, but then I feel like it is incomplete because some of them have completely different pictures...

Thanks for the heads up, their price is WAY over what it would sell for. There is one on ebay and I'm expecting it to close under $30.

Eric,

I think you should go after them. Yet seeing how there are 35 of EACH letter, I honestly believe you can wait it out and they will become significantly cheaper.

It is probably hard right now b/c they are so new and people are snatching them up. But over half of these people buying the Bruce letters will end up selling them again.

Wait it out...

The Hanley /2 (more popular player and less available) sold for $56 on ebay. I agree $75 is very overpriced for Chavez.

I recently completed the 2008 SP Authentic set, sort of. I have one of each letter for 'Sizemore' and 'Indians', but I'm not buying 3 Is or 2 Ns or whatever. They were all signed, which is a little bit of an incentive, though the sigs are unintelligible on the fabric. I'd be more into them if they were unsigned and thus cheaper.

You obviously decide what should be in your collection and what shouldn't. I look at non-GU patches as design elements like foil stamping and die-cutting and such. In some cases they are really well done and add a lot to the look of a card. In others, like Lettermen, it's much less compelling, but I felt the need to add them to my collection.
