I used to do live AIM auctions, but Beckett shut down the option of posting such auctions on their site so I had to stop. I had about 4 of them. They were very successful in that many people participated, they lasted about 2-3 hours each time and I got rid of a LOT of stuff in the process.

Maybe I'll recruit for one of those again if that's allow in this site... They sure were fun!

i remember those bill there was always good stuff to be picked up at your auctions.

I remeber when we had these at the BMB up until about '04/'05

I was one of the first 2 or 3 people that did an auction there on BMB, and it went fine and was alot of fun!

Until the trading boards became flooded with them and people ended up not selling the card at the price it went for, people never sent, there was no rules, and people ended up wasting time and space.

Even with reserves, etc, it wont go very good for numerous reasons.

If you have a reserve, why not just offer the card for sale instead of trying to auction it? You would have much better luck...

And, I doubt Chris and the other mods would allow 3 more boards, as suggested, to be added. It would waste space, and, people would lose interest faster than you think.

I used to run my own auction's before Ebay was really known (back in 1997-1999 & maybe even 2000 but I'm not 100% sure) on these collecting message board's, I think they were rec.collecting.baseball.yada.yada.yada & they had other board's for football, basketball, & everyother type of collectible too! Anyhow, I ran 500 lot auction's by email & it went EXTREMELY well (I was making huge amounts of $$, yet I was selling for less than the going rate...this isn't possible now because of Ebay & such but back then "self-run" auction's were the shat)! The major problem occurred for me after I amassed an email list of over 2,000 & I believe my fellow competitor's would request to receive my auction's & would then report me for solicitation to AOL (they ended up kicking me off after receiving 3 report's...which sucked badly as I was making alot of $$$). It was an awesome experience & took time & effort updating the bids received through email & then sending the updated auction out through my mailing list (the real hard part was getting the auction's typed up & then sending everything out...I had thousand's of online reference's & wouldn't be at all surprised if I sold to several of you guy's ). Personally, I would definitely run my own auction's if we were allowed to & I think it is a GREAT idea (as buyer's & seller's alike would benefit)!

So would folks be opposed to this type of post if there wasnt a seperate board? I think I should just state unless a very compelling argument is made, there will be no new board additions since they sap resources. If folks are opposed to having the traffic on this board, we'll just back burner the idea for a while.
