Haha, bet that Pete will fetch you good money if he can get his **** together and break the Mets record soon…
That might be a keeper. I don't think I have a Pete auto in my collection.

2000 SPx Signatures Orlando Hernandez Autograph -- One of just two playing year Yankee autographs, I preferred this to the 1999 SP Signature Series due to the vertical design. Some of these have faded signatures or autograph where the ink has bled, this was is bold which I preferred.

2006 SP Legendary Cuts Mel Allen Cut Auto /67 -- My first ever cut autograph. I've stayed away until now, but they have grown on me lately. Seeing the lack luster cut autographs from Topps like this, and this really makes these older UD cards shine. The gold foiling, the font choices as well as the full description and small touches on the back like the microphone logo as well as the HOF logo make this card certainly worth the premium over a certified plain index card.

Mel Allen has just a dozen cut autograph releses streching from 2003 to now. All other releases are very limited and have a combined print run of 70 copies, making this the easiest to find. Within this year, there a bunch of cancelled checks, but I prefer this plain background even though the edges aren't perfectly flush.

I picked this up for my Monument Park honoree autograph run. I added a DiMaggio last year, then Munson and now Allen. I have a few more "lower-end" guys like Dickey, Stengel, McCarthy, Gomez, Ruffing to find. I will aim to get one of each of the different designs from 2001-2007 SP Legendary Cuts to complete a "type collection" of sorts. So far, I have 13 of the 37 players/managers so far with another big one on the way. I have yet to seriously chase easier guys like Willie Randolph, Guidry, Reggie as well, trying to find the perfect copy to have, whether a signed vintage card or moder on-card autograph release. The big three, Ruth, Gehrig and Jackie will take time.

Love 2000 SPX....
I bought everything UD in hopes to pull a Griffey. I purchased one box, and pulled the griffey redemption. wish I still had it.
I later bought the Manny redemption off ebay. I only ever received the Manny. 😭
Had to go years later after I got over the pain and buy the griffey off ebay

Finally got this after a previous disaster transaction. Extremely weird where first tracing looked like it was never brought to the usps, then after several week, tracking updated and it showed delivered to me! it had not been. Maybe a week or two later, the seller messages me, said the card got returned to him and it was back up. I reluctantly hit BIN again, figuring I was covered either way. The tracking was doing the same thing at first, but finally updated.

Today the card finally arrived!

Soriano /50. Always liked this issue, even though it can be a bit flashy, but nothing compared to the garbage we see today.

2004 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites Bob Sheppard Auto /10 --

It is far from flashy, and unnumbered, but it is remains as one of the toughest signed Topps cards to find. This was released in 2004 when Mr. Sheppard was 94 years old. Only 10 copies were signed and made available by an exchange redemption program making the effective print run likely even lower.

Mr. Sheppard was an icon and staple at Yankee Stadium for decades, and was fittingly honored in Monument Park. As a Yankee autograph collector, this is a true grail.

Not only is it a tough Yankee card to find, but with less than 10 copies I would guess it is one of the most limited certified autographs amongst Topps sets through 2005 and perhaps longer. Next closest I could find is Barry Bonds who has a similar autograph from 2005 ATFF with a print run of 15 copies. Even among subsequent Allen & Ginter sets, I don't think there are any standard autographs with a print run of 10 or lower except perhaps the Employee cards each year. Newer sets undoubtedly have parallels to /25, /10 and /5 and then the /1 making the cumulative print run of autographs higher.

There have been other chase, gimmick and "anomaly" autographs from other years and sets....2003 Yankees Signature Series of John Goodman and Jason Alexander, 2025 Topps Larry David, 2009 Topps Billy Crystal. and Will Ferrell Topps Archives are a few that come to mind. I believe they all had higher total print runs. Will Ferrell was /10 but was featured on multiple cards. There might be a George Lucas autograph /10 or something in the non-sports world that compares.

I first saw this "series" in a Beckett article. Donruss apparently made cards special for Willie Mays to give out on Halloween. Guessing not all of the cards were given out at Halloween, but that is just speculation on my part.

I have no idea how many were made, but guessing it was not a gigantic number. How long did Donruss expect Willie to sya up and answer the door anyway? Heck, did he even answer the door himself...at all?

Still, an interesting run of cards. I think I may have 3 or 4 different. It appears likely 1 made per year for however long Donruss did this for Mays. Wouldn't that have been something if he sat down and signed some or all of them before handing them out. That would have been a Halloween to remember! I love the idea that someone could bring so much joy with just a flick of the wrist too.

I like the set and like low print run crds when they are really cheap. Jenkins had a decent career and made the AS squad once, so he is not a complete common either. This is the National Convention stamped parallel /5

A couple hostess panels, 1 being a need. The other was from same seller and cheap, so why not.

Lastly, a Kenny Easley 2nd year. I read that he won't sign RCs. Not sure if that is true or not. I know I don't have one.

Since stepping back from the Garvey ledge, mail days have a greater variety (usually). No Dodger stuff at all, though Whitfield did play for them briefly in the mid 80s.

Down to a still daunting 13 needs with this lot

Bettis completes the 3 card series, as far as I know. Theismann, Rice and Bettis

Didn't need it, but a great price.

Liked the design and didn't have a Terry auto.
