Hey all,

I had a chance to pick up a pretty cool unique item from the guy I collect, Tony Gwynn. It's his 1996 All-Star Game Welcome Package. I'm pretty pumped about it. Check out the scans!

That is soo awesome! To get something that he actually held in his hands is, like just said above, beyond cool!
Although 1996 was a good year for Gwynn (batting title, World Series) he actually didn't play in the all-star game because of a heel injury!
I remember he batted .350 without ever being able to plant his right foot that year!!

Without that clock, its a bust...

Just kidding, thats an awesome piece. I don't go ape over something a player held, but thats a one of a kind item for a player collection, and that is awesome. Not the same year, but I went after a similar Puckett item and ended up short.

Great addition of one of the best hitters, and underrated hitters of all time.

I couldnt agree more with the 2nd bolder statement!

As for the first thing I bolded, while that's neat, it wasnt what really attracted me to it. I just thought it would be a neat and unique item to have. Ive never even seen one before and I enjoyed seeing all the things that came with it.

Also, anyone have any idea if that is Gwynn's handwriting on the page with his address? I would assume so and it looks like his to me, but I can't say for sure.

Very cool oddball item! And for only $30?!? What a steal!

I find it interesting to see what the players were told in terms of itinerary for the day, tickets for family, etc. I love behind-the-scenes types of things like that.

Couple of humourous things from the package. These are the best/most popular players in the game at the time attending the event, and all they got is a clock? Of course, I'm sure a lot of players get bonuses from their teams. Also, you'd think there would be nicer label on the cover than a dollar store name tag. Maybe have the player's name and team in gold foil on the cover?
