Let me start off by saying this find was in my own parents home. As a family(Me,Dad and Brother) have been avid Vintage Collectors. Not me as much as the others but I always appreciated the Vintage stuff and am into this more then the modern day stuff now.

About 15 years ago we were cleaning the house and storing stuff throughout the house in rooms. This was back when I was still in High School. Well this past week I have been helping with cleaning out my parents house. We are just getting rid of stuff that isn't needed anymore. Well about 5 years ago we were looking at some of the Vintage Sets or Partial Sets my dad has. We knew he had a 1968 Set. We had this set out looking at it and my dad says I also have a Partial 1963,1967 and 1965 Set. Well they weren't with the 1968 Set. We couldn't find them anywhere. We thought they were either lost or stolen but didn't report anything to the police. So once we couldn't find them my dad started a new 1965 Topps set. He was about 20 cards short. He never got around to starting a new 1963 or 1967 Topps set.

Well guess what we found today in his closet buried in a Sealed Container. All 3 of those partial sets. The 1965 and 1967 Mantle cards are amazing. I put up 2 scans of those. The 1963 Topps Mantle is a really nice card but not in the condition of the 2 scanned ones. He is missing only 2 common cards from his 1967 Set. About 100 cards for the 1963 set. Only the Rose rookie is a star card missing. The rest are commons. The 1965 Set was missing 155 cards. So to say the least. Its a good day here.

The condition of these sets are almost indentical to the Mantle cards from 1965 and 1967. The 1963 isn't perfect but still amazing for the year. Sorry for the bad scans. I did them quickly.

We also found some various RC & Star cards like 82 Topps Ripken, 80 Topps Rickey Henderson, 75 Topps Nolan Ryan, 1962 Topps Roger Maris(Rough), 1972 Topps Pete Rose, 1975 Topps George Brett and 1962 Topps Stan Musial.

I Will Scan More Tomorrow

As a set builder of a 1965 set, that Mantle is in very nice condition.

I totally agree with you. All the cards in the set we found look like that. The set he was redoing from that same year looks like that as well. My dad let me have the set we found so I will be looking to finish off the set with the cards it still needs.

The Mantle cards might be going to PSA for grading. At least the 65 Topps Mantle will be.

NICE!

The Seaver Rookie is very under-appreciated in this hobby. it's a tough high number.

Awesome find!

How bad is the Maris?

It has rounded corners. Its still a nice find though even in the condition its in. You can't go wrong with having that card in a collection

Can you scan the Musial please? :)

I can scan it for you tomorrow. I need to get some sleep. Its been a long day. Its not in that great of shape to be honest. Kind of like the Maris 62 Topps. I am gonna scan a few more cards from these finds tomorrow when I have more time.

I would have to say no. Sorry. Even if my dad wanted to sell any of these I would be buying them for myself first.

Re: Awesome Vintage Find Story...

No worries, as a vintage collector as well I totally understand. :)

Awesome collection though, must have been fun sorting through those. I wish my dad collected when he was a kid....instead he put all of his cards in his bike spokes :benson: ha..

Some more scans. The 62s are rough. These were from my dads childhood. The 63 Mantle was also from his childhood but considering its age I would say its not to bad. The 1967s, 65 and 75 are from the sets he was building and we finally found them again.
