The saying is couldn't care less. Saying I could care less is the total opposite meaning. Seems Mr. Harper or whomever wrote that story needs to take a few English classes.

This is one of my all time favorites and I love hearing it. So emphatically defiant and still misses the mark.

We understand what they mean, but irregardless it's wrong. ;)

"Mr. Harper" probably makes more in a year than you will in your lifetime.

I would say he's doing alright.

Oh that's right, I forgot. Wealth excuses ignorance.

People made a huge deal about Delmon Young's lack of maturity and he is doing quite fine now. All it takes is some growing up, Harper will get there.

Be careful with the "I don't care about what people think" attitude.

Sincerely,
LeBron James

Still has plenty of endorsements, money and long term future in store. Right now everyone that hates him can come out and talk but if he would have won the fans would be the ones talking. I don't like LBJ and heavily rooted against me but we all know he has plenty of fans and it was just easier for the non fans to come out this series since he played so bad. Pippen didn't help him either.

One day you are gonna learn that life isn't about how much money you make or what you have.

being "real", and going out of your way to be a ****** are two different stories.

he doesn't have to be fake in order to not act like an over-priveledged brat

But my point is, maybe he is an over-priveledged brat. Personally speaking, it's hard enough to change my own character flaws. How can we, the fans, expect anything more from a professional athlete...and at 18 years old! I think fans need to stop expecting so much from the players and let them do what they do. I know that will never happen.

Take LeBron James for example. Sure, the dude wants to win a championship so he left Cleveland. Major diss to the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio to lose a star player. Sure, it's a knock on LeBron's character, but he's free to make his choices just as his fans are free to not be happy about it. But I wouldn't equate that as being a knock on LeBron being an amazing basketball player. He's just not perfect...but who is? I think we all would hope that Harper was a role model, but when he's not, it's doesn't really change anything. He's just another baseball player.

I don't know Bryce nor do I claim do know him. I just wonder why it is so wrong do want to see a player with great ability also be a good person? Is it too much to ask to be able to pull for someone who is a genuinely good? These players, especially star players, ARE role models to our children wether they want to be or not and just once it would be nice to read about what great people they are.

Lastly, the worth of a person should not be judged by the amount of money they have but how they live their life.

If you want a role model in an athlete, become a Chris Paul fan, I mean, why is it so hard to tell the kids that some athletes are famous because they're talented and humble and some are just famous because they're talented? Do they all have to be model citizens? Christ, I would hate to have a job where my personal life was just as relevant to my employer as my professional behavior.

Thats nice, that means he can afford them also. Thanks for pointing that out though, without your comment I wouldn't have realized this and thought I was making more than him.

Except this is Harper's professional behavior. When he taunts an opposing pitcher on the field, what he says to a reporter...that's his professional behavior.

And that would only be wrong if he broke some code of conduct or team policy. If it's written in the team handbook that "you should not taunt or blow kisses at the opposing players" or "when being interviewed, you should say your ultimate goal in life is 'world peace'" then we can chastise Harper for the things he does. But if Harper chooses to be a ***** and it's not breaking any rules, then really...there's not much that can be said.

Let me put a spin on this. Brett Farve was looked at as a role model. He had an ideal "professional" persona for nearly 20 years. On his last season in the NFL, word comes out about his "unprofessional" conduct. Do you think he just suddenly decided to be perverted? Or maybe he's always been a pervert, but he was just hiding it. I don't know which is worse when looking at this from a "role model" perspective. Wolf in sheep clothing?

Athletes should not be expected to be role models. Role models are made, not manufactured. Just because you are the #1 draft pick of any sport, should not make you an instant role model.

I'm laughing my ass off right now:

The phrase is "for all intents and purposes."

We're not talking about being role models. We're not saying he has to go to Nicaragua and deliver $1 million in supplies. We're talking about a guy being a professional when doing his job and not some immature *********. Again, it is tremendously stupid of him to take the "I don't care what anyone else thinks" attitude. Barry Bonds cost himself millions in endorsements with that attitude early in his career.
