Is Colvin off the list because he got called up in September?

Looks like he has a shot to compete for CF next year.

He isn't on the list because he isn't really a legitimate prospect. He tops out as a 4th or 5th OF.

I disagree. Has been injured in each of the last two seasons. Started getting healthy around the halfway point of the minor league season and had a real solid season in AA. All the while still recovering from Tommy John surgery. Kid is talented, and will get a shot.

I disagree. He can't hit anything but a fastball. His swing is slow and MLB pitchers will eat him alive with breaking balls. I've watched him for 2 and half years now and he isn't going to be more than a 4th OF.

I would think having TJ surgery would affect someone's swing speed. Also, not saying you are wrong since you have seen him in person, but wouldn't it be difficult to hit a fastball with not great but good power with a slow swing?

TJ surgery can effect someone's swing mechanics, though more often than not it effects, not bad speed, but other aspects of the swing as the hitter is trying to compensate for (temporarily) a little less strength. Travis Snider is an example of someone who had elbow (not TJ) problems and ended up having his mechanics really get out of alignment, though it was only a temporary problem. Dustin Ackley on the other hand had TJ surgery before the spring and never missed a beat - in fact increasing his power output over last year.
The gentleman above is correct - Colvin really does profile as a 4th outfielder at this point (though obviously anything can happen).
I would add though that Colvin's bat speed to me isn't really as much of an issue as the fact that he struggles with pitch recognition and lacks patience.
