Babe ruth cut auto up for auction

Nice looking cut. I know it is supposed to look the way it does but I think a pic of Babe Ruth at the bottom with "Babe Ruth says" would make the card look a lot better.

Ya I don't understand the Babe Ruth auto with a picture of Jeter. Very dumb.

Its supposed to resemble the original Goudey cards from the 1930's. Those original Goudey cards (from 1934 i believe) had Baseball stars from that era that would give "Tips" on the cards. The original Goudey's used "Lou Gehrig says" quite often. Thats why Jeter is on the card with "Jeter says" its just to make the card look like a throwback from the originals.


Heres an original 1934 Goudey of Julius Solters with "Lou Gehrig says" on the card and then what he "says" is on the back of the card...

They lost the rights to Ruth and a bunch of other guys when Topps signed the CMG deal.
