Roethlisberger has a concussion related injury, although they're optimistic. To add to that, Charlie Batch will now be out, needing wrist surgery. For barely playing, he sure is injury prone.

Who do you think Pittsburgh will pick up (if anybody)?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... six-weeks/

If the Steelers weren't nervous about Ben Roethlisberger's head injury before, they will be now.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Steelers backup Charlie Batch requires wrist surgery and will miss the next six weeks to recover. Batch replaced Roethlisberger in overtime of Sunday's loss, throwing two passes and handing the ball off twice.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Roethlisberger's head injury Sunday was "concussion oriented" but early signs from the Steelers were encouraging, according to Mike Florio. Roethlisberger said he felt "OK" after the game and wasn't sure if he suffered a concussion.

Next in line is Dennis Dixon, who has thrown one career pass. The Steelers will likely have to look for more depth at quarterback.

Tim Rattay and JP Losman are both available now that the UFL season has concluded. Their combined effort won their team the title game, after an undefeated season.

Just as a temporary backup, I'd say that they'd be a great option. They're still in football shape since they just played a small season, and are ready to handle the hits.

Where's Jeff Garcia at these days? I think I'd rather have him than Rattay or Losman.

He's still a FA. He might want too much money though. He seems to think he's better than he is.

John David Booty is on the Vikings practice squad if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Bad News for the STEELERS (Two QB Injuries)

Update. They've called Cleo Lemon and Jeff Garcia. Tryouts are tomorrow (Tuesday).

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... rterbacks/

With Charlie Batch expected to miss six weeks of action and Ben Roethlisberger's status up in the air, the Steelers are working on finding quarterback depth.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports the team has begun to make calls, including one to Cleo Lemon. It's uncertain how serious the team's interest level is in Lemon.

Even if Roethlisberger is able to play this week, the team may want another body around to learn the system as insurance. Injured reserve sounds like an option for Batch.

UPDATE: Old buddy Aaron Wilson reports for NFP that Jeff Garcia has also been called by the Steelers. The team is expected to conduct a tryout Tuesday.

I love Dennis Dixon. He would do great! They have been grooming him to be the permanent back up. Now is his chance. Runs like the wind and throws darts. Hope he plays this Sunday. Lord knows I do not want Ben going out there against the Ravens without any work during the week like he did in 2006.

Lets go DROOP! Love it.

If he would just run the ball and quit thinking Ben is Peyton or Brady that would be good too. This gunslinging offense sucks. Mendenahll should have carried the ball 25 times yesterday
Bring On Drooooooooooooooooop!
Was not an Heisman canindate for nothing. If he did not get hurt his senior year He would have went 2nd rnd.

Without the defense imploading, Garica should of brought the Bucs to the playoffs last year and we sure
don't have Ward and Holmes at WR! Jeff can still get around the pocket and make the pass. How is
Pitt's O line?
