I really never knew what the hype was with this kid, ankle injuries of this nature are far worse than I would say Tommy John to a pitcher. He will not come back stronger, although the pitchers generally do. Glad I have no stash of his. ALthough he does have a few years anyhow.
The hype was his bat, and there was a lot of reason (and statistics) behind that hype.

I'd still be more scared about his shoulder injuries than the ankle. He will heal on this. It's not like he will be a MLB Third Baseman anyway with Zimmerman.

Good to see we have a doctor on the board!

Nothing he said was incorrect.

But it's common sense, and can apply to nearly ANY injury. It's a silly statement to act like it's a bad injury based on "He will not come back stronger". Most injuries can only heal to 100% of their previous strength and useability. Only a few ligament replacements, UCL included, actually make their respective body part stronger. So it's useless to say that a broken ankle is worse than TJ surgery based solely on the fact that the guy who breaks his ankle won't come back BETTER than he was before like a guy who had TJ surgery might do

broken is actually better than a severe sprain. Now, he'll be forced to rest it and let it heal. Time to load up!
