This list is making me laugh more and more every year..... Rick Porcello at #21 is complete BS.

And Rasmus still around in top 5 is embarassing..... The kid was supposed to debut like what 3 yrs ago and continues to put up lowsy numbers for a top 5 prospect.

Feliz/Anderson- Pitcher/Bumgarner above Porcello is a joke really.....

Bumgarner dominated Low A last year.... woooo hooooo!!! he used basically 1 pitch and blew away class A hitters with the heater, from what I gather he does not have one good secondary pitch.... and if they believe a fast ball i gonna cut it with major league players they are very very wrong.

Shep :ugeek:

LOL, who ever said Rasmus was going to make the club 3 years ago?Anyone?Anyone at all?

I love all the Rasmus hatred!
I believe he was 19 and just got drafted 9 months before this...

I'd have to agree nobody ever said he was supposed to debut in 06 that's outrageous.

Wonder how many prospectors on here pissed they didn't move their Rasmus stash in the summer of '07 (if they didn't already)?

It's been said over and over in another thread weeks ago BA's rankings are based on potential/ceiling/whatever.OK, we get it.Half the board seemingly dislikes Rasmus.

LOL, maybe that guy on eBay can finally move his '05 Bowman Chrome Draft gold refractor Rasmus for $2100 now that he was ranked #3.

Alderson is too low, should have cracked top 25...i am dissapointed in bumgarners ranking

I don't think Alderson is too low at all. Hes just right to me.
He had the lowest ERA in the CAL League, a hitters league, had great ERA, K numbers and wins, not saying i'd put him over those top guys, but he has to be in the top 25, not top 45

Darock - you'll see Aldy will dominate in AA Ball this year that everyone will forget about Bum during the 1st half of the season.

No doubt.Would the '05 Bowman Chrome Draft gold refractor Braun even get half that?

cardboardbeautys - "But he doesn't have an orange refractor!Never mind the fact that one wouldn't even sell for $500 a week ago!"

I'm kind of glad he listed it like that. It's been awhile since I had a good laugh like that.

I am really high on Freeman based on his first two (2) years performances in pro ball. I am like everybody else and disappointed that he was ranked so low.

BA had great projections of Freeman in year 2007 and 2008 (Last two BA's Handbook) and than rank him this low is a slap in the face.

CGilmo, you think Freeman was ranked too low also?

I will never trust International League pitching stats. Ever.

how about Japanese statistics?

I think you are misunderstanding his statement. The International league is a minor league in the US.

that's my bad. I still have my mind on the WBC.

Yes, I would take Wade Davis over Bumgarner. The main reasoning being I know what I am getting with Davis. He has proved it over and over and over. Burgarner has had one good year, and I think he will take a step back this year. He won't be able to keep overpowering people, he will need to develop more past that.

That is my opinion....

Come on seriously Davis over Bumgarner? Tillman shouldn't be over him either.

Cahill shouldn't have been left off the list, he would have been between Bum and Parker for me. I think he is good, maybe great. But he also is the guy that I have seen the least, and I am just not sure about him. I wish I could give you more concrete information about him, but I just haven't seen enough to convince me yet.

I am a big fan of guys that have shown for 2-3 years how good they are, are more of a sure thing, are sure fire 2-3 starters, etc. Yes I realize that we all want ACES, but how many top 10 prospects in baseball end up being #1's? Not that many. Give me the horse, that will be a 2, that I am 85% sure of, rather than the guy who might be a #1, but I am only 40% confident that he will be a #1 or 2.

Does that make sense? I think I confused myself :)

I like how the SEC draftees are representing in there, especially Smoak, Alvarez, and Beckham......

But c'mon, #79??????? Samardzija's better than that. He actually proved something in the MLB.

Even if you're only 40% confident that Bumgarner is an ace - you should at least be 45% sure that he will be a solid 2 or 3. How can you penalize a guy for having only one good year when he has only been in pro baseball one year?

A few observations for me:

Aaron Poreda is too high. Future reliever
.

Any reason to belive this outside of a gut instinct? He is slotted as a future #1 or #2 guy in the rotation and has already developed a nice hard Slider. Obviously working a a 3rd pitch will make or break him as a starter/closer type of guy but with some decent movement on his fastball (which the Sox are good for) he can command the entire plate with great placement.
