No Lipka in top ten?

Lipka has pretty much disappeared. My friend worked with him this past off season coaching him on his hitting etc.. working with him on his presentation in the box.. While he saw a slight raise in his average, he has looked lost on the field and at the dish

Re: BA's Organizational Top 10 Prospects List Official Thread (TODAY - METS)

"dickey, 2016 & mets" should never be used in the same sentence.

fulmer should be much higher

The thing that stands out to me on those two lists are that Andrew Heaney, who prospectors are sleeping on, is ranked ahead of a BUNCH of big name prospects on the Marlins list.

Suprised to see Cecchini ahead of Nimmo. Its the other way for me.

Zach (ME): Is Cecchini over Nimmo based mostly off of positional value?

Matthew Eddy: Yes, I think that's the biggest reason that SS Gavin Cecchini ranks ahead of CF Brandon Nimmo. No one doubts whether Cecchini can stay up the middle (eihter at SS or 2B), but the jury's still out on Nimmo being able to handle CF. Cecchini also scores very well in terms of general baseball smarts and makeup, the soft factors that make evaluators' hearts sing. Don't worry -- the Mets like Nimmo's work ethic and competitiveness, too.

Wow. I've never seen so much love for Quinn.

Not a fan of the lack of love for Asche. Agree with most of the others. Mr. Colvin and Mr. Valle have dropped off the radar...

I've read quite a few good things about Shane Watson, so I'm a bit surprised he missed out. He'll be one of my chat questions.

LOOOOOOVE tommy joseph being so highly ranked.

This will be one of those rare times when his eee auto will be very pricey over his bc auto (eee base auto is "ssp" /99)

What are the thoughts on Tyler Cloyd? Was he not included because he cracked the Big Leagues late last season, or do they just not have any love for him (or has he been traded in the off-season and I wasn't aware of it)? I do notice they do not have him in the projected starting 5 come 2016.

Probably projects as a #5 SP or a RP.

Interesting... While I am not an expert, I see him being a lot like Greg Maddux. Nothing about him really stands out at this time other than he gets people out and wins games. Not a strikeout guy for sure. But unlike many young pitchers that can throw 98, Cloyd I believe is a pitcher, not a thrower. Changes speeds, keeps the ball down, and is seemingly always around the plate. Thank you for the info.

where would larry greene be at current rankings? 11-15? 16-20? 21+?

i saw very similar numbers for low A between greene and nimmo..similar age, 1st rd picks..and yet Nimmo is #3 for the Mets and Greene not in top 10..

Does that say more about how weak the Mets system is or all about potential? Phillies system that good?

Just my own curiosity..

From today's chat:

Matt Forman: A number of questions on Larry Greene, and I'll hope to address them in one response... Larry Greene narrowly missed the Top 10, and he was in consideration throughout the process for one of the spots. In fact, I'll give away this one spoiler: Greene ranks as Philadelphia's No. 11 prospect. Greene didn't post gaudy numbers in his professional debut for short-season Williamsport, batting .270/.373/.381 in 257 at-bats. A football player in his prep days, Greene didn't properly prepare himself physically for the demands of professional baseball last spring, and he needed the early portion of the season to better condition his body. Accordingly, he got off to a slow start. But he did make progress throughout the year, and he still has tools that scouts get excited about. He's still a prospect. Greene's best tool is his raw power, and though it didn't translate to game action, it's still in there, trust me — I saw Greene put on a batting practice display in late July that made the ballpark look too small. He's an average runner with an average arm, and though he's still learning to play outfield, he moves well for his size. Greene struck out 78 times in 70 gams, but he's not a free swinger. He also walked 41 times, and is unafraid to work deep counts, but he'd be better off being selectively more aggressive. He needs to learn which pitches he can drive.
