Ouch on the Red Sox..I know they graduated their #1 prospect and another pretty high prospect in Masterson (3?) from last year, but many are saying that their 2008 draft class has the potential to be one of the best and Lars and Bowden are very good prospects..

I have a hard time understanding the White Sox jump

They drafted Gordon Beckham

traded for Tyler Flowers and Jon Gilmore

other than that, why the jump?

Astros...Angels...ugh.

Brutal. I thought the Astros 2008 Draft would have at least jumped them all the way up to #29...but no such luck.

And i expect to see them back in the top five next year. Their 08 draft class does not have many immediate help but is loaded with potential. Lars should be a stud prospect but is also a year+ away. Bowden is there only major league ready talent right now.

Dayan Viciedo might have something to do with it. He was a late addition to the Handbook. I'm told he's their new # 2 prospect, in front of Poreda.

So,

Gordon "Lightfoot" Beckham
Dayan Viciedo
Aaron Poreda
Tyler Flowers

well, when you put it that way it looks like a pretty strong top end.

Really, is their a better GM in baseball than Billy Beane?

Yes, those that win championships. I appreciate what Billy does, but let him win it all before we call him the best.

Building a good farm system < Winning it all

and eric, omar sucks, royally

Its pretty tough to win the WS with consistently one of the WORST franchises in all of baseball..I would really hate to have anything to do with the As, but for what Billy Beane has to work with, I think he does the best job year in and year out as a GM...I like my man Theo as well, but Beane is the best in my mind.

Andrew Friedman. Theo Epstein gets way too much credit. It's not that tough when you have the 2nd highest payroll every year. If he gets credit, Cashman deserves more. He's got more pennants and titles and those were before the Yankees philosophy changed and they got A-Rod and other high priced, overrated free agents.
