I remember someone on the Beckett Boards way back when, had seemingly all his BCD cards. Wonder where that guy is now (both the collector & Einertson).
I think his name was Jay something or other.

Jaypas? Jaypers?

I was thinking that, but, since I didn't do much in the way of Baseball back then, I didn't want to sound like a complete moron :|

Another guy who wasn't a bust, but taken too soon from us, was Doug Million :(. Steve Olin comes to mind too (two players I absolutely loved :( )

My definition of a bust is someone who fails to reach the Major Leagues after having some sort of hype.

Busts
Brien Taylor
Wade Townsend
Toe Nash

Being labeled a bust can sometimes used be to define guys who didn't live up to expectations after reaching the Major Leagues, but if you play two, three or four years and seemingly have earned a regular MLB paycheck for that period of time - you are really more of a disappointment than strictly being a bust - as tempting as it is for casual fans to label the player a straight out bust.

Disappointments
Delmon Young
Jeff Francoeur

I can agree to that.

Antonelli can;t be called a bust yet, what happened is that his swing sucked. The Padres FO had a problem with it when he was drafted, but since he was having success with it they let him go on with it. But now that he's struggled two years in a row he was sent to Instructs to rework it completely, he could make a comeback next year.

I pray that your right...

Ok, 5 pages and Sean Burroughs hasn't been mentioned?

Now granted, the vast majority of people on this board weren't prospecting in 1999 or 2000, but Burroughs was a "lock" future star and batting champ.

And for the love of [insert any bizarre creature here], can people stop bringing up "Toe" Nash in "bust" discussions? Nash was NEVER A PROSPECT...he was a project and there is a huge difference.

Scott Radinsky ...

David West too. The old old OLD Twins / Mets pitcher (late 80's). Was supposed to be the next Frank Viola. Well, that didn't turn out to well ...

I never get why people keep thinkin Nash was great. Why was he even well known, because that moron Peter Gammons wrote an article about him or something?

The article shows that he was a project with potential, but he was never, ever considered a prospect by anyone. Not even Gammons.

Considering Nash was all hype and no substance, which is what busts typically are - it doesn't matter whether or not he was considered a legitimate prospect or just a novelty who might have turned into something decent.

Doug Million was going to be great IMO...I used to go to SHS games to watch him pitch and he was probably going to be the best from this area

David Clyde, #1 overall draft pick in 1973.
The 18-year-old Texas phenom skipped the minor leagues, and started for the Rangers in front of a sold-out crowd at Arlington Stadium, just 20 days after pitching his high school team to the state finals.
He pitched great in his first game, then sucked it up, got sent to the minors and was barely heard from again.
But he's still a Texas high school pitching legend.

I agree with everyone about Adenhart and would not call him a bust, but I think people are being a little pissy about it. The OP is 15, and did give proper respect to Adenhart in his explanation for having him on the list. Has anyone seen the British comedy "The IT Crowd" and specifically the episode about Jen's "Aunt Flow" coming to town? It's possible it's happening with this board lol.

Anyhow, I might add Corey Patterson and Felix Pie to the list. Patterson is a suitable major leaguer, but not the 5-tool-wunderkind that we was hyped as. And Pie so far seems like a less powerful version of Patterson.
