Flipping - nobody flips cards anymore. You remember bringing your Topps cards to school and having to match the same color of the cards your friends had, then you won the pile. You would also flip cards (3 if I remember and then your friend would have to match what your 3 cards were - so you had 2 heads and 1 back, if he didn't match you got his cards. And scaling (a leaner) - throwing the cards against a wall and if your card was standing on it's side against the wall (a leaner) you won all the cards!

I started collecting near the end of 1986, and never knew anyone who flipped cards. I never understood why anyone would want to win a pile of dirty, beat-up cards. Guess I was a decade or two late to the party.

meh...i guess i'm a relic myself...most of the terms you guys are saying are never used anymore are still quite common for me and the other card collectors i know....i suppose some of that may be due to the fact i am not going all cuckoo for all the new bazillion-dollar-a-pack crap and i do still enjoy material from the 70's-90's which means terms that applied then are still applicable....

How about this one... when did they go from memorabilia cards to relic cards? For some reason I remember them always being memo cards and then all the sudden that term went away and everyone uses relic instead. I personally do not like relic and prefer memo but who am I haha
