If this happens, the MLBPA may be the dumbest organization on the face of the planet.

i dont think its dumb its mlbpa and mlb controlling their product. look at it like a musician they only put out albums on one label until their contract is up then they move on or resign. from a business standpoint its a strong idea and keeps from saturation and from my collecting standpoint i love it. no matter who would get the contract i see it as good.

No, it will be like the player's label limiting the amount of money the musician can make or what venues they can play. It isn't fan friendly, it is a negative for all involved except Topps, and the MLBPA is very VERY dumb.

but the players are voting on this so they are controlling their own income... its the same thing the mlbpa and mlb do with chevy, sunflower seeds, hats and anything else corporate... i find it more fan friendly to the casual collector and casual fan because they dont have to wonder which one of the releases is going to do it for them. they have limited choices and they buy the one that suits their needs best. and lets be honest the system was just as flawed with 4 companies as it is with 2. at least with 1 company the flaws will be glaring and they will have to be fixed.

Ever since MLBPA took away Zephyr's right to make MLB hats I can't find Astros hats that fit my head. Do you want baseball cards that don't fit your head?

New Era is not that bad.Besides, I just go for the batting practice caps. They look way better anyway.Zephyr does make a good college hat though.I love my mesh UT cap I got at lids.Nice stuff.[/quote:15bxu94s]

Zephyr makes the only fitted had that fits me right. New Eras are either way to tight or they fit length wise but are way too wide. I have had to resort to wearing youth stretch fit hats that I cut the seam in the back to make them big enough.[/quote:15bxu94s]

I can't get the regular MLB hats they make. The only hats I get are at either lids or at Academy but the ones at Academy seem to be more geared towards people who wear their hats normally. The regular new era caps you can get seem to be more for people who like to wear them sideways or something. They look like crap if you wear them like a normal hat.Hence why I don't buy any.[/quote:15bxu94s]

I don't have an exact hat size (somewhere between 1/8 and 1/4), but the older hats with the plastic snaps used to fit me perfectly. Now, of course, they don't make them anymore, and kids at Lids look at me like a mutant when I ask if they have any.
Certain FlexFit hats fit me well, though.

I think this is a bad idea for several reasons
1) No competition=bad products
2) Loss of some great UD sets
3) Hurts the chance of Zambrano ever signing again
Seriously though, just limit the number of sets each company can release so that collectors get a quality product.

1) There have been no bad products in the last 20 years?
2) Name one. Well, OK, I buy a base set of Legendary Cuts each year.
3) Don't worry, he'll sign. Baseball careers are long, life after the career even longer.
Limiting the number of sets won't guarantee quality products any more than unlimited products does. They already did the limit thing, it didn't take. Each set is different, each year is different.

I, for one, would be thrilled if Topps is the sole purveyor. IMHO, they have a greater percentage of quality products, and the only really essential products I like to buy packs and the occasional box of (Heritage, Bowman Chrome, BDP, whatever retro set d'anee they come up with). UD is overpriced and underwhelming on the box level. They produce lovely singles, but I wouldn't miss them too much. The best thing would be if Topps hired UD's graphic designers for some sets.

I used to go in there every week and I got to know the people who worked there pretty good so I started ribbing them about some of the hats they had. Some of them are very ghetto looking and I'd always walk in there and ask them if they had any hats for white guys. They cracked up.Seriously though I like the flex fit.I have a few that have the velcro strap and those work out well too but I hate the ones with the plastic band your speaking of because after a while the band will break on you.The bad things about the flex fit is if you like your hat semi tight(not too tight but just enough where it sits just right and isn't too lose) they eventually stretch out and feel funny.I need to go get another batting practice cap of the astros for this exact reason.

the franchise are the best hats on the market for my melon...

Can't say I have heard of Franchise.

they are made by twins enterprise and they used to sell them at lids. i have had my red sox hat for 8yrs... my wife wont let me wear it out because it has holes in it and smells like a wet sneaker. they are far from the mlb hats but those damn things never fit me right. they are either way to small and hurt my head or way to big and pin my ears down like a 6 year old...

Ok.Now I recognize them. They look like they'd be durable but I just never liked the look of em.I prefer the BP hats. Its just to expensive to get too many hats anymore though because the BP hats are just shy of $30.Its the main reason I haven't gotten a new hat in about 9 months.
