Anyone play?

I took over the Rockies for 2009. It's now 2012.

I've made a few trades here and there. I had a pretty good team, but I never had more than 80 wins. Disappointing.

It's now July 2, 2012. I'm 23-55. OUCH.

I can't seem to get anything going, so I sold off most of my good players such as Hawpe, Barmes, Tulo, etc. Just an absolute firesale.

i have no clue what my future plans are, and my team is just in a rut.

Here's my lineup and pitching rotation. I have a great young rotation.

1.) Dexter Fowler CF .298, 8 HR, 37 RBI, 52 R, 11 SB, .366 OBP
2.) Chris Nelson SS .297, 8 HR, 33 RBI, 29 R, 2 SB .346 OBP
3.) Ian Stewart 3B .300, 15 HR, 48 RBI, 36 R, .345 OBP
4.) Seth Smith 1B .303, 7 HR, 30 RBI, 33 R, .376 OBP
5.) Matt Miller RF .272, 3 HR, 16 RBI, 19 R, .292 OBP
6.) Buster Posey C .330, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 13 R, .394 OBP
7.) Carlos Gonzalez LF .276, 3 HR, 18 RBI, 24 R, 2 SB, .330 OBP
8.) Eric Young Jr. 2B .262, 3 HR, 25 RBI, 28 R, 15 SB, .332 OBP

1.) Ubaldo Jimenez 6-6, 4.78 ERA, 98 IP, 80 K
2.) Christian Friedrich 2-5, 4.04 ERA, 98 IP, 78 K
3.) Trevor Cahill 5-5, 3.45 ERA, 86 IP, 44 K
4.) Wade Davis 1-3, 3.96 ERA, 36.1 IP, 31 K
5.) Greg Smith 1-3, 5.86 ERA, 43 IP, 27 K

*Madison Bumgarner, Jhoulys Chacin, and Rick Porcello are in AAA.

Closer: Casey Weathers 1-3, 3.86 ERA, 16.1 IP, 18 K, 2 S
Setup: Carlos Fisher 0-6, 6.11 ERA, 28 IP, 22 K
Short: Shane Lindsay 1-3, 7.32 ERA, 19.2 IP, 12 K
Short: Tony Sipp 0-3, 8.84 ERA, 19.1 IP, 10 K
Middle: Samuel Deduno 0-0, 3.90 ERA, 27.2 IP, 13 K, 1 S
Middle: Cory Riordan 0-0, 9.00 ERA, 17 IP, 8 K
Long: Matt Belisle 0-0, 0.82 ERA, 11 IP, 9 K

Looks like a decent team, other than my bullpen, right? Wonder why I'm so atrocious.

dump whatever you can to get a good young starter. realize what peoples potientals are too. timing the trades is important. wait until the overrated guy does something and then unload!

Starter is the one thing I haven't been getting.

You don't think Jimenez, Friedrich, Cahill, Bumgarner, and Porcello will be a nice rotation?

Um, I got Buster for Jeff Francis. They offered it.

Bumgarner, I don't remember, but I've traded a lot of guys to the Giants, lol.

Baseball Mogul is a terrible game. OOTP is much better. ;)

Not at all!

I'm just busting your balls. I've never actually played the Baseball Mogul series. I have been playing the OOTP franchise for quite a long time now though. First started playing OOTP 4 (2003) and I've owned most of the versions since then. You ever checked out OOTP?

I actually haven't. How in-depth is it?

I've played both and for me OOTP is too in depth. I can sit down and play Mogul season in 30 min but OOTP always seems to take me 10 hours or something ridiculous. If you haven't played OOTP you should try it. It is the most in depth baseball sim out there.

It can take a long time if you want it to, but it doesn't have to. You can fast sim an entire season in a few minutes. Just depends on what all you want to control and do. I can usually get through an entire season in my solo historical league (1951 in case you care) in about an hour if I'm taking my time looking at stats and such.

I don't know if you care or not, but they also released OOTP 2007/version 8 as a free version. So you can play that for completely free.

I'm guessing OOTP is by the same makers of Eastside Hockey Manager?

Looks the same.

Really, really in depth game.

I know it can be done but it just sucks me in and I end up going day by day through the whole season. I made the mistake of first trying OOTP during finals week and I don't think I got any studying done. I've played Mogul since the beginning and started with OOTP with OOTP 5. There are pluses and minuses to both but I've always been a Mogul guy.

Actually, no. OOTP is made by a solo guy named Markus Heinsohn. He was partnered with SI Games who makes Football Manager for a few years. Which is why OOTP now looks like those games and EHM. They wanted all their games to look similar game interface wise. OOTP split from SI though, so they're back to being independent.

Any reason for why there has never been a basketball mogul, to my knowledge?

I dont think baseball mogul is bad, but OOTP, is alot better. The best baseball sim ever, was micro league baseball, for those old enough to remember the Commodore 64.
