As much I would like to have 4 position players, I suppose I would honor a pitcher as one of the 4 represented.

Ty Cobb
Ted Williams
Babe Ruth
Walter Johnson

Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston, and Martin Dihigo.

Interesting! What's your reasoning, I'm curious. I actually don't know off the top of my head one or two of them.

Yea, Mount Rushmore has 4 faces and I think 4 is the limit but what the hell, if you want to be like @rsmath and do a smaller face Mount Rushmore, go for it!

I did 9 because baseball is a game of 9, not a game of four. ;)

and, yes, had to put Babe Ruth on there - NHL hockey and MLS soccer would probably be more popular today than baseball if it weren't for Babe Ruth back then.

Cool, thanks for the explanation.

Strong statement to end.

I guess if I had to chose 4 it would be J. DiMaggio, R. Campanella, R. Clemente and R. Cano.

I am a ***** League fan and homer.

A relatively strong case could be made for:

1) Paige being the best pitcher ever

2) Gibson being the best power hitter of all-time

3) Charleston being the best overall hitter in the history of the game

4) Dihigo as the 4th best ***** League player to complete the grand slam.

(I, personally, would have preferred Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe!) :-)
