BASEBALL ~ OPENING DAY! Do you wish you bought more of?

Well, it is finally upon us......OPENING DAY for many teams in the Majors.

The big question is who did you overlook/didn't know about/knew about but didn't have the funds and will be kicking yourself when they start swinging/throwing the ball this week?

My list needs to start out of Jordan Schafer. I was bidding on his orange and blue ref and struck some side deals for BINs listed on the bay.....everything was going fine until WHAM! One swing of the bat and a HR in his first at-bat and needless to say all my side deals turned in to BINs and the auction went $100 what it should have.

So now we are at day 2 after that tantlyzing morsal last night for the prospectors.

Who is the name that will emerge today?

I will tell you I am kicking myself for not buying more Edinson Volquez cards.......I purchased his blue ref two weeks ago for $40 and one just sold for $115 in an auction and another is almost at 100. I have a ton of his stuff but I thought I had at least one or two weeks before they skrocketed (or at least until he actually threw a pitch!) before they would be over $60, let alone triple in price.


Anyone have some thoughts?

I kept talking to some people about some deals for them, but nothing ever materialized.

Oh well.

Wish I had bought more Mike Stanton when EEE/Draft were released. Only card I bought was an EEE die cut auto /25, wish I had a handful of base chromes to go with it.

i am on the opposite side... i wish i hadnt sold my jordan schafer 08 gold refractor for $55.00 last september. i figured he would be in AAA this year! grrrrrr!

Guys I've been picking up as many as I could on:

Chad Billingsley- picked up 14 BC Autos recently (to go with the others I had) and 95 Prospect Premieres RC's. One of the best young pitchers in baseball for right around $20 a BC Auto is insane!!

Jason Bay- In the spotlight in Boston and coming from a solid seasons, and prices are where they were when he was struggling in Pittsburgh. Picked up a Finest Auto, Finest Auto BGS 9.5 and 5 2002 BC Uncirculated's at thepit.com.

Elijah Dukes- No one in his price range has close to his upside. Did not get into any real trouble last year, and I've heard he's been working on the off-field issues. Insane talent. Picked up 8 BC Gold Ref's and a slew of Bowman Auto's.

David Wright- Still not a "cheap" pick-up, but I think his stuff is reasonable. Haven't been able to work any deals yet though.

BJ Upton- Has all the talent in the world. If he can combine 2007's power with 2008's SB total, he'll be one of the most explosive in baseball. Only 1 RC Auto. Have picked up 3 raw PP Auto's, 2 9.5's and counting.

There are a few others, and because everyone is pretty cheap, I've been taking advantage.

I wish I had bought more of Johnny Cueto. I have a bunch of 2007 BC base chromes and a 2008 Topps Chrome Auto but that is it. I kept telling myself to buy some 2007 BC parallels but I never did! :evil:

I've been paying a little less than that, though if the auto is perfect I might have gone for it. Not a bad deal.
