My question is when did Kareem Abdul-Jabber stop signing "Kareem".

I know he used to just sign the first name, now he typically just signs the last name.

Any help is appreciated.

It's been awhile now that he's stopped signing his first name. I have a auto 8x10 with his auto that I received back in 2001 and he only signed Abdul-Jabbar.

I'm not sure when it was, and every exemplar now I see is the "Abdul-Jabbar" signature, not the "Kareem" signature.

Not trying to hijack the thread but would a Lewis "Lou" Alcindor auto be worth more than an Abdul-Jabbar? Given that both autos were on the exact same type of medium? I've always wondered this.

I would say yes, especially if it is an early signature from the UCLA days.

The "Abdul Jabbar" signature is his most common, therefore anything other would probably have a premium...like some inscriptions.

I haven't seen a Alcindor auto but I would think that it would command a HUGE premium. I know that he is a very reluctant signer and will turn down most IP requests.
