I have a great O'Neil story. I was at the Memorial PGA tournament serval years ago I was at the 16th green watching the guys practice their short games waiting for the Pro-Am to start. Hardly anyone is around still kinda early. A tall lanky fellow walks by sits down by me. The guy looks very familiar but I can't place him. I look over at him he gives me a smile and a head nod. I'm thinking I know this guy maybe a friend of the family I go through this for like 3 minutes trying to place him finally I just say the hell with it I'm going to say hi. But he's gone. I don't give it much thought as I'm excited to see some of the best golfers in the world and maybe score an autograph or two. Charles Howell III group is approaching the hole I'm at and I can see its a larger group of fans than normal following Charlie. It's because of his amateur partner... Paul O'Neil. The guy sitting by me was Paul. I couldn't believe it I was speechless Paul has always been a favorite Red of mine he's a great guy and gives back to the Cincinnati community.

So did you meet up with him later at tournament?

Nope didn't get the chance. I did see him a year or so later at UC Bearcats basketball game got to spend a few minutes with shared the story with him.
