Picked up the new John Tavares Beckett today and noticed that Beckett is doing the Hot/Cold lists again.
Here this months..
HOT PLAYERS
1. John Tavares
2. Steven Stamkos
3. Sidney Crosby
4. Anze Kopitar
5. Alex Ovechkin
No real big surprises there. Maybe seeing Kopitar up with the " Hobby Big Boys" is a bit surprising, but its nice in my mind to see a Los Angeles King finally get to become a legitimate hobby star. LA has not a hobby star in many years, not since Gretzky and Robitaille played, so its nice to see the big market Californian team have a popular super star player, its good for the league and the hobby if LA has a hobby superstar on their team. Is Stamkos close to joing in Crosbys or Ovechkins stature and become a hobby god? I definitely think John Tavrares is the real deal. I think his skill rivaled Crosbys at the same age. Tavares just isn't going to have the benefits of having a Malkin, Fleury, Staal, MARIO etc to play with,
heres the cold list........
COLD LIST
1. Rookie Redemptions
2. Marc Andre Fleury
3. Cam Ward
4. Patrick Kane
5. Kyle Turris.
So the #1 wasn't a surprise, not many people like redems but #2 really shocked me  , Marc Andre Fleury? Really? and i know i am big fan of his so o might be blinded by the kool aid, but why is he cold in the hobby? Just won a Stanley Cup a few months ago. Hes on the Hobbys "hottest" and most collected of modern products teams, the Penguins. He has a great record this year, him and the Pens are 1st in their Division. Hes an almost lock these days to make the Canadian Olympic team. Why does Beckett thinks hes cold? They must have a reason for putting him way up there. The other 3 on the list, i can understand why each one of them might be presently "cold" in the hobby. MAF is puzzling me though. Any opinions on Becketts lists??
