Thirty years ago yesterday, the Cubs and Cardinals played one of the most epic, exciting regular season games in baseball history. The Cubs overcame a 7-1 deficit and dramatically came back to win, powered by Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg who hit game tying home runs in the 9th and 11th innings off Hall of Fame closer Bruce Sutter. The last few innings is some of the best baseball you can watch given the stars involved, the raucous crowd, and the dramatics. This is an absolute must watch if you are a Cubs fan.

Here's a great article from WGN with quotes from Sandberg, many of his teammates, Whitey Herzog, a few Cardinals, and Bob Costas, who was on the call for the NBC Game of the Week.

Here's video of Ryno's two homers:

Finally, here's what you really need to watch. The 7th inning on with Harry Caray's radio call for the audio. It's the best thing you'll watch this week.

Awesome! Thanks for posting! Perfect thing to watch while I'm working out!! That had so much "win":
Sandberg
ozzie
sutter (coming in before his AB!)
Lee smith
McGee with a cycle!?
Harry Carey!
(all this when baseball was baseball as I knew it! Baseball is so DIFFERENT nowadays!!)

Glad you liked it. A lot of fun to watch the games that I grew up with. There's also a Don Zimmer appearance as a Cubs bench coach that I noticed.
