In Grandma's arms in this picture. Bye bye card collecting budget for a while. But this is quite a blessing considering what I have been through (if you are not aware, search for the thread "Pat Neshek loses son")

Wow. Congratulations. It sounds like the majority of your collecting will be awesome memories instead of cards for a while. Don't get me wrong, both can be achieved, but I can say for me it was an awesome trade off. Best of luck to you and your family.

Given what you went through previously (and based on my own experiences that were rough but admittedly pale in comparison to what you had to go through), I know that the last 40 weeks have been full of anxiety. And I know how relieved and happy you are right now.

Fatherhood is the best thing you'll ever do. And it will change you in ways you probably never imagined. Best of luck to you and your family.

Full of anxiety is almost an understatement. My wife was already prone to high anxiety before we had the stillborn. During this pregnancy, she would have a panic attack if she didn't feel him move for an hour, or if he was moving too much and she feared he would get tangled in his cord, or if she read something on-line, or if she saw something on television. We went to L&D triage so many times to calm her down and have them tell her the baby is fine that I asked if they could name that wing of the hospital after us. We had a multitude of doctors working together to get her on the right medications that both would work for her and were safe to take while pregnant. The last month and a half they finally had the right combination of like 6 different prescriptions.

The sleepless nights ahead with a newborn are music to our ears because of what we went through to finally have this opportunity. )
