Best Of Baseball - Memoribilia Edition...?

Was just thinking of how cool a product would be. I believe Onyx proved the concept is sound, but with LEAF's flair and sucess with prior BOB releases, I think they can take it to another level. For instance, every pack could contain a limited edition LEAF trading card/auto, a BGS/PSA card similar to what you get now out of BOB, and a redemption code that you can put in on their website to 'unlock' a certified piece of authentic MLB memoribilia! It could be auto balls, game used gloves, jerseys, hats, bats, ect...

Just imagine opening your box of 2013 LEAF Best of Baseball - Memoribilia Edition box and pull a 2013 LEAF Jorge Soler purple paralle /25 auto card, a BGS 9 Derek Jeter SP RC, and a memoribilia redemption code that unlocked a 1958 game used Sandy Koufax Jersey!!

Anyway, not a completely original idea, but one that I would be very interested in depending on pricepoint!

Not sure what type of price point you'd expect...but your pack contains $20k+ in hits.

Anything is possible if people are willing to pay, and I like the idea but acquiring enough solid memorabilia to garner a lot of consistent interest at a low cost would be really tough.

Yeah, I hear what your saying but the box highlighted above as an example would be a best case scenario, and there would obviously be many more no name leaf parallel /25 auto card, BGS 8.5 1989 UD Griffey jr, and a Cecil Fielder auto ball type boxes. Perhaps one redemption code card per 6 box case is more reasonable, and a price point of $200 or so per box would be ideal for me...

I get the concept for sure.

Let's extend that example there...a $1200 msrp case would net the company (total ballpark number) $800. So with packaging and distribution aside, you'd need to procure a short-printed autograph, a slabbed single of some sort of value and an autographed baseball of sort and some sort of game-used item for every six boxes.

We'll assume that for cost, the majority of the game-used items are batting gloves. The problem is that to have a major hit like a $20K gamer...that cost has to be divided across all of the packs. And you'll need multiple big hits so that the value doesn't plummet once the big hit is nailed. Maybe a couple $500-1000 game used items.

Then it comes to print run and value for the producer, retailer and ripper.

With a $200 buy in product, as a producer you'd want an ROI high enough to keep interest and the chase. Say close to 40%. So now before packing, production and acquisition costs...you know you have to have roughly $80 in street value on the weaker boxes...leaving a mere $40 per weak box to help fund the stronger boxes and the big chase hits.

To acquire a $20k value jersey, you'll need to have 5000 of these packs to pay for it. Again, just for that singular hit.

For me, I would love to see a product where autographed balls, pucks etc. come back. A la the first year of Absolute Memorabilia. An updated version perhaps of the Leaf "Best of..." But obviously a super high end hit would be tough.

Yeah, perhaps a item like the Koufax jersey might be out of reach for this product, but a healthy dose of $100 - $500 type items with a small handful of $1000+ items could make it more doable, and keep costs reasonable as well as profitable for LEAF.
