I was thinking about this and just wondered what others thought. A pitcher and batter should be named as you cannot really compare a pitcher to a batter. Let the conversation begin, I will go with:

Pitcher-Jon Lester
Batter-Matt Kemp

the way Wieters is ending the season looks great. I could see him putting up some good numbers for years to come.

Phil Hughes, Justin Upton.

Not sure if Robinson Cano counts, he will be 27 soon.

Cabrera and Lincecum are already stars, Upton and Porcello are more what I am looking for.

I hear you on Mauer. It would have been great to see his numbers this year if he was ready to start the season right away. I hate how he beats the Tigers all the time but I love watching him play.

I agree with all the pitchers but I'm going with Porcello (because I'm a homer). His 14 wins this year is the most by a 20 year old pitcher since Doc Gooden. I just hope he avoids an arm injury.

Kershaw and Justin Upton get my vote, but I have been very impressed with the improvements Billy Butler has made this year

I can easily see Butler consistently hitting .300+ with 25 HRS 100 rbis year after year

Pitcher: Rick Porcello--A 20 year old who has a shot to secure his 15th win of the season on Monday. Incredible. He has made it through 2009 with basically the sinker as his only consistent pitch, but his offspeed has flashed brilliance at times. He is only going to get better and better as he works out the secondary pitches and becomes more confident in them. Smooth mechanics and caution from Detroit's management should keep his arm healthy.

Batter: Billy Butler--Guy is 23 years old and although he plays for a crummy team, he is a stud. His power is developing, he's a doubles machine, and he is always going to bat around .300. Think of a guy like Mark Grace but with a little extra pop. I think this guy is going to have a huge season in 2010.

Other notables: Kershaw, Hanson, Happ as pitchers, Longoria, Upton as batters
