Both are going to man the hot corner for their teams and should be up relatively soon.

In terms of prospects, they both fly under the radar as compared to other "star" prospects, but each swing the bat quite well.

3B has a pretty thin crop of guys who should stick at the position.

Who do you like better and why?

I'm aware of Lawrie's defensive problems, but i based this poll off of the last thing I read about him:

Although he's made six errors thus far, the Blue Jays have been pleased with Brett Lawrie's defense as he learns to play third base for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Most of the errors were of the throwing variety, and came early in the season in what Las Vegas manager Marty Brown calls a "fielder unfriendly" environment.

I think they will commit to him at 3B until he shows them he's a complete liability at the position. Bautista prefers the OF as opposed to 3B and if he was going to take Hill's place at 2B, they wouldn't have moved him from the position.

DH would be the only other place to play him.

Lawrie's been better than expected at third, maybe he can stay there but I'm still not convinced he won't be a LFer. However his bat is special.

Oh yea, SSS.

I think Lonnie's bat will pick up, but it might take some time. Lefties expose him quite a bit.

Lonnie plays good defense, but his bat scares me.I just dont think he will hit with enough power for a 3rd baseman.

I thought he looked good for being so young. It took Asdrubal a long old time to become a heroic hitter. And I really liked Lonnie during that stretch when he had that shiner. It was ferocious. Took a pitch to the face, fractured his sinus, and he was right back out there standing in the batters box. Every time I saw him doing that, with the big black eye, I was really proud of him.

I can't find a good pic of the shiner, which makes me sad.

There's one right after it happened. It looks pretty mild, but it was a 90 MPH fastball. He got a pretty good bruise and it seemed like it lasted a really long time. But not a single pic to be found. Hrrumph.

Sorry, looking through old posts...

After 150 at bats FCB got it wrong???

It will be a couple years at least until this gets answered.

Ditto.

I was definitely wrong about this season though. I thought Lonnie would be crushing major league hitting by now.

Of course it's far too early to make any sort of proclamations but I don't think you'd find many, if any, people ranking Chisenhall above Lawrie at this point. Especially compared to where people probably had them coming into the year.

What is this? A bumped thread from May? Ooooooh. Better hide this from Gilmo.

Don't you know the powers that be don't like it when you hold people accountable for the shat they say on these boards?
