Beware cheap Jim Thorpe fake patch and more

The seller scans look good but I personally know it is bad since I just returned this Thorpe Patch. It is vintage jersey but maybe from a Whitey Ford or other old NYY, I held this close to my Thorpe ABS Jumbo and indeed it is different material.

The 1/1 stamp has the same tilt on all of his listed cards, football and baseball. None of these 1/1s are in any checklist. Seller uses an odd listing category and private listing to stay below the radar. I'd wager that this type of thing happens countless times a day across all sports. Sellers manufacture bogus "game used" patch cards that are scooped up by collectors who can't believe they were lucky enough to get it and add it to their collections. Out of those countless transactions, very, very few are found out. Even less are called out, with many collectors just shrugging it off and keeping them.

This guy is smart. He used a very small, almost unidentifiable, piece of jersey that is easily passed off as a patch piece. Adding a 1/1 stamp was the part he didn't put much thought in as they're easier to discover using a checklist.

Hopefully, this thread will increase awareness.

Yeah, that stamp is terrible.

Sad thing is that he probably butchered another nice card in order to get that piece he used in the Thorpe. (Unless he cut it off the bottom of a modern M&N jersey)

The patch that is currently in the Thorpe looks well worn and probably from a different card.
