Just want to get some thoughts on 70's and 80's BGS Graded OPC sheet cut cards..

I personally prefer a pack pulled card, I happen to like the OPC rough cut that most of them have and have more of a nostalgic feel to them..and they are extremely difficult to find in Gem Mint condition..As we all know, most graded BGS 9.5's and all 10's are sheet cut cards..I look at these as fabricated 9.5's and 10's..For those who collect OPC cards from the 70's and 80's, are you'll ok with sheet cut cards..? I noticed sheet cut Gretzky's and Lemieux RC's still command a premiuim...

I would love to hear some thoughts...

i HATE HATE HATE that BGS blindly grades these so easily.

it bothers me so much that i have put them down to "third" in my slab of choice when buying on eBay.

I for one will only buy PSA because of this. There are is one ebayer that has a ton of BGS sheet cuts. The dead give away is usually the 3 9.5 on edges corners and centering and a 9 on the surface. I like most love the rough cut as that is what an OPC card is.

If it's a vintage OPC with straight/clean edges I view it as altered...no matter what BGS says.

Beckett does not hide behind the fact the grade sheet cut cards. In fact, if the card measures correctly they will put it in a holder. The constant number of high grade BGS 9.5's of key rookies from the 1980's really hurt the hockey market.

I think if you ask Martin-Sports (Jason Martin) at a show if his BGS cards are sheet cut he would be honest with you.
