This is one of those situations where there is really no great answer. Whether a nick on a case like that bothers you is highly subjective, but for many it makes a difference. (Enough of a difference to affect prices on eBay.) The price is too cheap to make it worth shipping back or regrading. Sandpaper might help and I think the only way is for the buyer and seller to work something out between then, something they both are comfortable with.

As others have said, if the buyer wants a refund, you refund the $. That's it.

Having said that, asking for a refund for that is pretty amazing to me. The card is fine and the damage is superficial at best.

I've had cases that were chipped like that.. I smoothed it out with sandpaper (extremely high grit) so you don't get snagged on it..

Good luck,

yup...just buff it out and it'll look good as new.

that chip wouldn't bother me at all

Me too seems like a big deal over that but everyone sees things differently.

Another reason to never bother with Andrew Brackman cards.

but... but...

morrow

weathers.... ahh nevermind ::facepalm:: ::facepalm:: :D

Heh.

As for my two choices for purchasing, I would have never bought the Weathers stuff I did if I didn't pull his 07 Superfractor auto myself. As for Morrow, he's at least shown promise in his professional career, despite a rocky start to it. Yet another promising arm taken off track by being rushed to the bigs in a relief role when the best thing for him would have been to just start in the minors and have a normal ascension. Rafael Soriano was supposed to be an elite starter once upon a time. Neftali Feliz and Jennry Mejia are in similar situations right now. Not everyone can progress to greatness the way Johan Santana did, and it's getting frustrating seeing teams make this same mistake over and over again.

Agree, upon return of the card. I've had too many buyers try and get refunds from me without returning the items. It's insane.

Jd, you may want to get better bubble mailers as you’ve had damaged slabs before (I bought 1 from you + it was damaged). In my case, there were too many slabs jammed into the bubble envelope which likely caused the damage. When sending multiple slabs in bubble envelopes, consider placing that envelope in a priority mail package to minimize the chances of damaged slabs (so I’ve found).

If I were the seller, I’d either refund (upon return of card) or pay the reslab fees b/c it’s the right thing to do imo.

If I were the buyer, I’d want a refund or the reslab fees (W/O having to eat paypal fees) b/c chipped slabs present a problem when I want to re-sell the card. Otherwise, I have gotten a damaged card + have to eat the re-slab fees before I can re-sell it…or I have to sell the card for less b/c I’ll have to mention there’s a chip in it...or I'll have to ship it, hope the buyer doesn't complain + if they do, then i'll have to refund them the $ or pay them re-slab fees. WAY too much of a hassle to the buyer caused by what could be fixed by you paypaling this guy the $5 reslab fee + being done w/it.

Sure, it’s a minor amount of $, but buyers deserve to receive undamaged items.

W/questions like this, I suggest you put yourself in the buyer’s shoes. What would YOU want? I’m guessing most of us would want an undamaged card.

I agree. I've had similar situations where it's not reasonable to get shipped back and after a pic was provided, I gave a full refund.

If a dispute is opened, Paypal will have the seller refund the return shipping cost ( as least when I filed a dispute like this they did) as it's not the buyers fault. Why should he be out $ to return it.

Did you notify me? I would have paid to reslab them.

I had a lot of chipped slabs from Gilmore's group sub about 20% of the cases were chipped.

In this case $5 to reslab is kind of pointless. I credited him $2.50 and he kept the card.

Agreed.

As a seller, I would have just refunded the money and had him keep the card for his troubles.

As a buyer, I know little things like a chiped, scratched, or whatnot slab really takes away from the purchase. And the bottom line is if the seller is not happy, even if it's a reason you may think is unsubstantial, it's the sellers(read: quality sellers) responsability to correct things. And for a refund of $6 dollars, it would have been a no brainer for me to refund the cash and make my customer happy.

Have him destroy the card, then send him back the 6.00.

Yep, if that tiny chip is such a deal breaker. I would just have him destroy the thing and show proof, then give him refund.
